Yesterday evening I found the (top right) baby blue yarn with silver touches in it. Just perfect for snowflakes. I could hardly wait for morning, and after coming home from the bus stop, I had my second cup of tea while crocheting a snowflake (middle right)
The bottom row shows my forays into crocheting in the past two weeks, right to left my first daffodil following Lucy's pattern, my second snowflake, still fastened with needles, and then a flower straight form my own head. It looks a bit octopussy, I found out too late that Witch hazel has only four petals, not eight. There'll be more witch hazel flowers in my near future.
It is hard to imagine that a fortnight ago Lucy's easy snowflake pattern had me nonplussed. I read through the tutorial on stitches first, and where it says "insert hook", my thought was "into what?" When I had figured out how to work the involved stitches (slip stitches and double crochet) I met the next hurdle: "To begin :: chain 5" - what is that - no chain in the description of stitches? My first try actually turned into a snowflake believe it or not.
The Screwtape Letters flew off the shelf and into my hand after reading Sue Elvis' musings on bugs, prayers and eternity

SletThe Screwtape Letters! Your photo reminds me that I was going to hunt out my copy after our conversation some days ago. Now I wonder where I put it...
SvarSletIt's been a while since I last crocheted anything. The last thing I made was a blanket which was very easy. Your flowers look very delicate.
