Poetry Monday :: (Praise the) Silver

Every Monday is Poetry Monday.

Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings and I have taken over the hosting duties, mostly the supplying of the prompts - only temporarily we hope - while Diane at On the Border is taking a break for health and relaxation, travelling the world with her husband as far as we can tell.
 
We just hope she's going to take back over once she returns home again.

  Half - if not more - the fun of these challenges is receiving the responses of others.

Today's prompt is Silver. Silver is a metal, I like gold better for looks, but for uses - nothing compares. So an ode to silver it is - modern, free form - versatile as silver itself. 

Silver is a versatile metal:
The bane of vampires and werevolves,
the source of life for photos and X-rays,
and for vanity; mirrors and spoons.
In our banks you find coins and a bullion.
In the band aid it kills the microbes.
And it filters our water,
makes current from sunshine,
and always it pleases our eyes.

And here we have Habakuk, my grumpy gnome, shooting away at a werewolf with his old shotgun  loaded with silver (he's partially modelled on Hard Haid Moe).

Poetry Monday :: Emojis

     I dag er temaet for Mandagsdigtet. Emojis. Ja, de der :) smiley-tingester 😉.
     I lang tid var jeg med i en udfordring, der hed Simple Daily Drawing. Men de er ikke Simple mere, så jeg er stoppet med at følge den udfordring.
     Mens jeg var en del af udfordringen, var temaet både Gnomer og Emojier, jeg er ikke rigtigt i stødet til et digt, men jeg vil gerne vise mine gnomer og emoji'er frem så her kommer de i tilfældig rækkefølge.

     Today's theme for Poetry Monday is Emojis. Yes, those :) smiley things 😉.
     For a long time I was part of a challenge called Simple Daily Drawing. But they stopped being Simple, so I stopped following that challenge.
     While I was part of the challenge, both of the themes Gnomes and Emojis came up, I'm not really in the mood for a poem, but I want to show off my gnomes and emojis so here they are in random order.

  Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey who has been a faithful participant, was slowly returning to blogging after her husband's passing from this world. But then a humongous storm blew past and interrupted the flow of electricity and it seems Jenny never really got back after this. Let's hope there's nothing worse happening than a break, and let's continue to send warm thoughts, good energy, and lots of prayers her way. Let us hope that she will return to blogging and maybe eventually join Poetry Monday again, she, and her wit and positive energy is sorely missed.

Today I do not function well. I'm having a headache, and every time I think "Muffin" the only thing surfacing is these two lines which is all I remember from a crazy song my daughter and her classmates made up when she went to school in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, Germany (2003-2004):

Wir sitzen im Kreis und teilen ein Glas Gurken
denn wir sind Superhelden und bekämpfen allen bösen Schurken

Translation:
We're siting in a circle and share a glass of gherkins
For we are super-heroes and are fighting all the evil villains.

If Iris Flavia of Double-Half or One Ten without ham is reading this, please correct and tell anything you might know about this.

The MUFFINS did however inspire me to a drawing for the Simple Daily Drawing challenge.

Valgplakater -- Election Posters

Man må ikke, som i slet ikke, tegne og male på eller på anden måde ødelægge valgplakater. Og det er altså lige meget hvor fristende de er. Så er det jo heldigt, at man kan tegne på sine egne fotografier af valgplakaterne 😆
     De fleste af dem er nok kun morsomme, hvis man taler dansk (og måske lidt svensk) og er over 30 i hvert fald.
Men alle må kigge.
     De har fået deres egen side, og det kan være. at der pludselig kommer flere.

Luckily my own photos of election posters are not forbidden territory.
I drew, here are the results - most of them are only funny if you know some Danish (and Swedish) and are older than say 30 years, but anyway.

They have been given their own page, and maybe the collection will grow.

MotherOwl's prediction: The coming election will see more anti-immigrant rigth-wing politicians with a say in the Danish Folketing than before. She is not optimistic.

Banankage. Når togene ikke kører - tak for ingenting, Malik - kan man ikke komme i kirke, og heller ikke købe kager på vej hjem. Og så må man jo bage selv.

Et af stormes ofre, måske reddet. Jeg aner ikke, hvad denne lille stedsegrønne er for én, men den hang i en busk på en parkeringsplads, og bad om at komme med hjem. Jeg håber, den overlever.

An orphan of the storm, maybe saved. I do not know the name of this little evergreen. It was stuck in a hegde along a parkspace, and begged to be taken home. I hope it survives.

 New Lease was the prompt we were given. What to do? I think there was an option to treat the prompt with ignore and just write. At least that's what I did.

I am Jack of all trades and a master of none
It is as it should be, I have all the fun.
A master must work hard to keep his position
And never relax due to the opposition.
And just to excel, he must stay in his rut
While I play while I work and can follow my gut.
I can paint, sculpt, and draw and get praise for progress,
While critics will measure his works with his bests
So after all now everything's been said and done
I'll take jack of all trades to a master of one!

Sunday Selections -- Inktober Week 4 -- Life in Colour

Søndagsbillederne er denne gang en fornøjelig tur gemmen måneden.

For Sunday Selections this time, some happy photos from all of October.

     En statue af Sankt Antonius, min yndlingshelgen. Statuen befinder sig i vores gamle sognekirke i København. Vi var der til en glædelig begivenhed.

  Saint Anthony, my favourite saint. This statue can be found in our old parish in Copenhagen. I re-found him as we were there in a happy occasion.

Den glædelige begivenhed var, at vores ældste barnebarn, den Lille Løve, var til førstekommunion.

The happy occasion was the first holy communion of our oldest grandkid, The Little Lion.

Der var fest bagefter, og i festlokalerne hang denne vidunderlige kiwi og dens venner.

 Afterwards we celebrated; this kiwi, and its friends hang in the rooms where we celebrated.

     Nogle dage senere mødtes Storesøster, den Lille Løve, Ædelstenen, Spirillen, Minimax og Uglemor med Uglemormor i Helsingør, hvor Uglemormor stadig bor.  Vi spiste sushi og snakkede.

  Some days later, BigSis, Little Lion, The Gem, Minimax, Marsupilami, GrannyOwl and I met and ate sushi in Elsinore, where GrannyOwl still lives.

     I Hillerød, hvor vi skifter tog, groede dette lille birketræ stadig, nu i efterårsfarver.

  In Hillerød, where we change trains, the small, defiantly growing birch tree was changing colour.

     Samme dag købte vi også et nyt strygejern. Vi kalder det Hvæsende drage, fordi det lyder sådan. Det gamle sprang stilfærdigt i luften, det blev meget varmt, jeg slukkede det, og da jeg tændte det igen, skete der ikke noget. Det var også over 20 år gammelt.

That day we also bought ourselves a new iron. The old one peacefully exploded. It got hotter and hotter, I turned it off, and when i turned it on again after cooling down, nothing happened. Well, it was over 20 years old. The new one has already gotten its nickname: Hissing Dragon after its sounds noises.

Til min fødselsdag fik jeg en buket klokkeblomster. En af stilkene lever stadig og er flot.

One of my gifts for my birthday were a bouquet of bell shaped flowers, one stem is still surviving.

     Og nu til tegneriet. Jeg er mere tilfreds med mine tegninger, og derfor kommer de enkeltvis efter dato og stikord. Simple Daily Drawing har fine stikord og en sød gruppe på Facebook. Jeg vil forsøge at fortsætte med deres stikord også efter oktober er slut.

  And then to the drawing. I am much happier with my drawings this week. The prompts from Simple Daly Drawing, and the supportive people in the group, has done much to push me onwards, And I am going try to carry on with the drawing following their prompts once October has ended. I'm going to show this weeks drawings not in a mosaic, but one by one:

Cloud in a Bottle is a Minecraft thing. The Owlets told me: "Mom, it does not look like this!" Sorry, that's how I imagined it.

Cloud in a Bottle er en ting fra Minecraft. Ugleungerne fortalte mig bagefter at den slet ikke så sådan ud. Men det var det, jeg forestillede mig, da jeg hørte navnet.

     Til sidst månedens sidste Life in Colour. Jeg tog mit nye kamera, gik på jagt efter orange ting, og fandt ud af at appelsiner - selv om de altså hedder "oranger" på flere sprog - ikke er særligt orange.

  Finally for the Life in Colour challenge. So I picked up my new camera and went hunting for orange and was surprised that oranges are actually more yellow than orange.

     Der er 7 dage i en uge, men denne her mosaik har kun plads til 6 billeder, det vil sige, at de dage det ikke lykkes mig at tegne noget, der har med stikordene at gøre, kan jeg roligt springe over. Denne uge havde jeg ikke tegnet noget den 22. Egentlig havde jeg også lyst til at udelade 19. oktober, men på den anden side. sådan ser det også ud ind i mellem.

  There's seven days to a week, but the way I make the picture make room for only 6 drawings. That gives me the freedom to either not draw one day a week or to not show the one I think is the worst from the past week. This week I did not draw anything on the 22nd, and I did really not want to show anyone my drawing from the 19th. But well, real is real.
