A-Z Challenge ~ G for Gnome

This year again I choose an easy way out. Each day I'm going to solve the Wordle of the day, using as starter a word beginning with the letter of the day. I hope to post every day at noon my time (GMT +2. Dang you DST!).

As the alternative badges, as supplied by Lissa suggest travel I'll prefer travel-related words as starter words, and if at all possible, I'll avoid words containing the same letter more than once.

I'll maybe add a few words about my chosen starter word if fancy takes me and I have time and energy for it, else I'll just post the solution - or not in the case that I did not solve it.

Today my starting word is Gnome. It was not that bad, and as the average today is 4,8 I am average once again:

Wordle 1.754 5/6
⬜🟩⬜⬜🟨
⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜
⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜
🟩🟩🟨🟩🟨
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Gnome and travelling - how does this fit together?

When traveling to Salzburg with my family , long time ago now, only the two biggest Owlets were brot back then, we visited the Gnome-garden (Link in German, but with pictures). Some of the gardengnomes carry baskets, and e put the Owlets into them and took pictires - oldfashioned paper ones, they can't be shown here.

Salzburg has a special meaning for me, because just like Maria von Trapp - yes the one from the Sound of Music, I have sat on the green benches at Rezidenzplatz, wondering if my future lay up in Nonnberg with the nuns, or in a family. You can read my old post in this here.

And now for today's Wordle

Poetry Monday :: (Praise the) Silver

Every Monday is Poetry Monday.

Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings and I have taken over the hosting duties, mostly the supplying of the prompts - only temporarily we hope - while Diane at On the Border is taking a break for health and relaxation, travelling the world with her husband as far as we can tell.

We just hope she's going to take back over once she returns home again.

I have something to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of others via the links, would you please leave a comment.
Half - if not more - the fun of these challenges is receiving the responses of others
.

Today's prompt is Silver. Silver is a metal, I like gold better for looks, but for uses - nothing compares. So an ode to silver it is - modern, free form - versatile as silver itself.

Silver is a versatile metal:
The bane of vampires and werevolves,
the source of life for photos and X-rays,
and for vanity; mirrors and spoons.
In our banks you find coins and a bullion.
In the band aid it kills the microbes.
And it filters our water,
makes current from sunshine,
and always it pleases our eyes.

And here we have Habakuk, my grumpy gnome, shooting away at a werewolf with his old shotgun  loaded with silver (he's partially modelled on Hard Haid Moe).

-- 🎨 --

Today the prompt for 365 Days of Drawing Prompts was Rivers and for InkTober it was Expedition. Could I do anything else than read this as River's expedition, and let Habakuk be ready to go wherever River would lead, bringing his old backpack?

Sunday Selection ~ Søndagsbilleder :: Colour2024 :: 003

~ ~ ~

Finally I found 003 - and it was parked, so that I could snap its Pebble grey curves.

Shopping while visiting my mother I found Habakuk all dressed up for Halloween. I just had to bring him home.
~ ~ ~

Poetry Monday :: Emojis

I dag er temaet for Mandagsdigtet. Emojis.
-- 🙂 --
Today's theme for Poetry Monday is Emojis. Yes, those :) smiley things 😉.
For a long time I was part of a challenge called Simple Daily Drawing. But they stopped being Simple, so I stopped following that challenge.
While I was part of the challenge, both of the themes Gnomes and Emojis came up, I'm not really in the mood for a poem, but I want to show off my gnomes and emojis so here they are in random order.

--  😇 --

-- 😀 --
Allow me to present my Gnomes. Ladies first, Mrs Abelone the smiling gnome ...

Og hr. Habakuk, den gnavne gnom  --  😀  --  And Mr. Habakuk, the Grumpy Gnome.

Så til nogle emojier -- 😆 -- And now for some emojis.

31. december 2022 tegnede jeg "You have been Cyber-mooned",

December 31, 2022 I drew "You have been cyber-mooned"
an emoji (_|_) I saw somewhere on the 'web ... but where?

-- 😁 --

29. December var temaet Creative Emoticon og nok
engang måtte mine gnomer, Habakuk og Abelone, holde for.
-- 😠 -- 😄 --
December 29th, for the theme Creative Emoticons,
my gnomes once again came to the rescue.

-- 🥦 --

28. A Romantic Tale of Broccoli

-- 🧁 --

-- 😋 --

16. Helicopter Ride ~ Habakuk

-- 😒 --

23. Chevron

-- 💚 --
22. Starts with L

-- 😝 --

26. Starts with M

Poetry Monday :: Muffin

Poetry Monday is hosted by Diane, and she and Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings - who supplies us with many of the topics - are also writing wonderful, funny, thought-provoking, ingenious and honestly well written verse. Go and read them!
Karen of Baking in a Tornado has joined us in this crazy pursuit, and promises us at least a poem a month!
SpikesBestMate often publishes a nice verse in the comments.
Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey who has been a faithful participant, was slowly returning to blogging after her husband's passing from this world. But then a humongous storm blew past and interrupted the flow of electricity and it seems Jenny never really got back after this. Let's hope there's nothing worse happening than a break, and let's continue to send warm thoughts, good energy, and lots of prayers her way. Let us hope that she will return to blogging and maybe eventually join Poetry Monday again, she, and her wit and positive energy is sorely missed.

Today I do not function well. I'm having a headache, and every time I think "Muffin" the only thing surfacing is these two lines which is all I remember from a crazy song my daughter and her classmates made up when she went to school in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, Germany (2003-2004):

Wir sitzen im Kreis und teilen ein Glas Gurken
denn wir sind Superhelden und bekämpfen allen bösen Schurken

Translation:
We're siting in a circle and share a glass of gherkins
For we are super-heroes and are fighting all the evil villains
.

If Iris Flavia of Double-Half or One Ten without ham is reading this, please correct and tell anything you might know about this.

The MUFFINS did however inspire me to a drawing for the Simple Daily Drawing challenge.

My other drawings for this challenge - bad and not so bad - can be seen on my drawing blog: Uglemor tegner, where we also meet Habakuk and his wife Abelone, and now and then a Droplet or two.

Poetry Monday :: Gnomes, Foam & Combs

Blue Flower
Poetry incarnate
Diane of On the Border and Jenny of Procrastinating Donkey are taking turns hosting Poetry Monday.
This week Diane has returned home
and gives us
gnomes. Or combs. Or foam.
  Normally Mimi is also participating.
I don't know what happened, I awoke early, and gnomes, combs and foam danced through my semi-awakened brain.

All the sea gnomes
who live by the sea foams
Do not use sea combs
For sea weeds or sand.

Woodland gnomes
Who dwell where the brook foams
Do not use wood combs
For branches and leaves.

Earth gnomes
Who delve in the dark loam
Do not use earth combs
When digging for stones.

But the air gnomes
Who play in the light dome
They surely use air combs
For unicorn tails.

Next weeks theme is Sports.
