Sommerbilleder -- Summer photos

  • I want to share photos from a lovely day in the garden. The Owlets have been pulling weeds and picking raspberries - lots of raspberries - and the last stinging gooseberries. I've been picking flowers for soaping and herbal salts and boiling jam. Now I'm tired and too warm to write a lot - pictures have to speak for me.

  • Blomster.
  • Flowers: Blossoming leek, my Hoya, a marigold, dark and pretty and an iris. In the middle a flower I loved very much when we moved in. Now I'm not so fond of the plant any more to put it mildly, but the flowers are still lovely.

  • Dyr i haven.
  • Animals No idea of the names -  not a bee, a baby snail, a pretty slug, another insect - they're normally red - and in the middle what we called a flesh eating ladybug when I was a child, but aren't they all ...

  • Vegetables. Radish seed pods, easier to grow and even tastier than the radishes. Chilli finally starting to turn red. Oxheart, a heirloom tomato with heavy, meaty fruits, so far they look good. More leek. And in the middle one of my 3 funny cucumber plants.  The Pirate loves cucumbers, I harvested, and we ate one cucumber a day; then the Pirate went to summer camp, no more cucumbers ripened. As he returned home the cucumbers began to grow again, and now we once again harvest and share one cucumber  a day.

  1. Uglemor,

Your garden is full of life at the moment! We had gooseberry bushes in our garden when I was a child. None of us liked their taste but my mother used to make delicious wine from them.

    1. Gooseberry pies and cheesecakes are delicious. I never tried gooseberry wine.
