Poetry Monday is hosted by Diane, and she and Mimi of
Messymimi's Meanderings are always posting wonderful, funny,
thought-provoking, ingenious and honestly well written verse. Go and
read them!
Karen of Baking in a Tornado has joined this crazy pursuit, and promises us at least a poem a month!
SpikesBestMate often publishes a nice verse in the comments.
Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break. Her inspiring poetry is sorely missed, we hope she comes back soon.
This Mondays topic is Treasure.
I treasure many of the poems I learned as a small one. This one I learned from my mother. I always thought it was one she was taugth from somewhere. But search as I might I can not find ot. Maybe she made it herself? I'll have to ask. If you know it (mostly Danish readers if I have any left) please tell me what you know, origin, more verses, author, in short anything.

Treasure = Skatte - i betydningen værdsætte

English re-write:
Once there was a woman,
Her name was Abelone
Her only really big wish
was to get up to the moon
She bought herself a goose
with big and mighty wings
Up to the shiny moon
with speed it Lone brings.

Next Mondays topic: Stuffed animals
I love the thought that your mother might have created this poem. Please let us know if she did.
SvarSletI will. Hope she still remembers the poem, and where she found it.
SletA lovely poem by your mother.
SvarSletIf it was hers
SletI still don't know. I'll ask next time I have a chance. I'd also like to find the rest ... if there is any more.
SletIt's delightful! If she wrote it, maybe she could add more adventures about the "woman in the moon."
SvarSletThere's at least one whole verse (stanza?) missing. Something about it being cold up there.
Slet... and no, it's not a poem of the woman and tjhe goose in the moon. It is a poem about getting what you wish for won't always make you happy.
