Reading 21

Ikke her i hvert fald.

Fotografér din by 21 billeder med nedennævnte temaer begyndende fra 1. marts.

No Reading has nothing to do withe words in a book. It's a town in England known for its university, music festival and a lot of other things - A student there, Gracie Price, has set up a challenge #RDG21 a daily clue for a picture to be taken in Reading.
Well MotherOwl does not live in Reading, and she's dependent on friends and family for posting at Instagram due to lack of smartphone. But this challenge sounds inspiring.
Let's try here. A photograph and be proud of your city/town/place on earth-challenge with the same daily prompts as the Reading one.  Beginning on March 1st.

Sneuglejubel - Snow Owl Happiness

❆ ❅ ❄ ☃ 💙 ☃ ❄ ❅ ❆

When MotherOwl awakens to a world where every possible thing i covered in white, and where the sun is glinting in a zillion snowflakes. And when the weather promises to continue to look like this. Only one word is able to describe it.

TUSAL - Pink - Januar 2018

  - -o 0 o - -

Now it's once again New moon. The ORTs jar is full and more. Not because MotherOwl has been busy stitching etc. No, but the disappeared ORTs from August 2017 suddenly appeared.

  - -o 0 o - -

And together with the pink shelves, MotherOwl got a giant bag with pink rug rags.

De var enormt kludrede og enormt lange. Uglemor brugte to dage på at kludre dem ud.

  - -o 0 o - -

It was one bit tangle. It took MotherOwl two days to untangle it all. One of the strips, not the longest one, measured more than 87 metres! How they got this long, we do not understand. There's no corners and no joints in the strips.

  - -o 0 o - -

All the wound up strips in one basket. There's some other strips in the bottom, but it's still a load of pink.

Words for Wednesday - 14. Februar

This week's words are:

1. caldera
2. Merlin
3. unicorn
4. crossbow
5. thoughtless
6. stunning

and/or:

1. glinting
2. crop
3. valley
4. particular
5. deliberately
6. cave

Let the creativity begin!

Thoughtlessly we plopped down at the rim of the caldera. The climb had been tiring and hot, the children were exhausted, and we not much less. Only my almost teenage daughter was not. She was used to outdoor life and hikes. And now, instead of looking out over the isle and the stunning views, she rested her long body against a rocky outcrop, swallowing a penny dreadful with unicorns, crossbow shooting heroes, and magicians of Merlin's ilk on the covers.
Our youngest, then only a toddler - now he's neither a toddler, nor the youngest - fell asleep almost as soon as we sat down. The rest of us dropped off one after another, except for the avidly reading girl.
For how long we slept, none of us know, but we awoke to out daughter's loud yells. The toddler had, as was his wont, tossed and turned in his sleep. This had brought him to the rim of the caldera, and then over it. Our daughter lay fully stretched with a handful of his clothes in hand.
It was not that dangerous, but still ... there were cliffs, sharp edges, and boulders all the way down to the bottom of the grass clad slopes. We jumped into action, and got them both back on safe ground.

Prøv bare at se denne her bid fra en McCloud-film (1975), hvor Barbi Benton synger Ain't that just the Way ....

Pink!

Well MotherOwl  had cleaned her project room ... but then ... Something happened.

Saturday MotherOwl met with many other members of the Weavers' guild Once again we had to move. This time only inside the same school, but still. New shelves were put up and MotherOwl carried all the old ones outside. Eh, maybe she misunderstood something. Outside was not outside, only out in the entry hall. MotherOwl carried all the pink shelves back inside again.
A little while later we were told that the pink shelves and some other ones were headed for the dump, so if anybody wanted to, they could carry them home - before Monday morning. After a phone call to the Writer, MotherOwl said Yes please to the pink shelves and carried 8 of them to the parking lot, where a nice lady had her pink car in which she promised to deliver said shelves to the Owlery. MotherOwl meanwhile took the long sides home by bus.
Another lady wanted two of the other not-pink shelves and would haul them home later on bringing her car and a trailer. If MotherOwl wanted to, she could tag along, give a hand with the other shelves, and bring the rest of the pink ones home. Mother Owl said Yes please.

- o -  💟 - o -

Nok til at have meget ømme arme i hvert fald.

MotherOwl and the Owlets carried all the shelves inside and the Owlets helped MotherOwl putting the shelves back together again. The Pirate said. Oh, those shelves sure are heavy. One self weighs at least two kilos. Marsupilami guessed 4 or 5 kilos.  MotherOwl was sore from hauling pink shelves and said. Those shelves! At least 7 kilos. Well almost 7 kilo when Marsupilami checked it out.

Let's see how the project room looks now. Here's the photos from January 6th once again, followed by today's photo  taken from the same angles.

6. januar

I dag - Today

- o -  💟 - o -

Not so much seems to have happened here, but wait and see.
Let's turn towards the fake window.
6. januar
I dag - Today

Much more space between the things, and it is much easier to get to the shelves and crates. MotherOwl is happy with the new look.

- o -  💟 - o -

Turning to the real window:
6. januar

More space, but not as visible a difference here.

- o -  💟 - o -

And MotherOwl backed up into the corner behind the table to show off the pink shelves:

- o -  💟 - o -

Wow, what a lot of crates here. Small wonder that there's more free space elsewhere in the room.

Words for Wednesday 31. January

For the last time the The Words for Wednesday is hosted by Letting the Words Escape. Today's (or rather this Wednesday's) words are:

bloody
confidence
ranger
Apollo
submarine
Byron

and/or

dictionary
groundhog
dancing
rain
silent
Germany

I don't rigtly know what happened here. These words and my sons' homework, make sentences with these words, somehow spliced themselves in my mind. This happened:

Two mini-novellas - almost.

I have no bloody conficdence in rangers, Byron blurted. I'd rather enter the Apollo space shuttle than this darned submarine.

Groundhog day found us dancing in the silent rain, wishing we were still in Germany.

Back to the Classics - February

Link

My January read: A classic that scares you. (Dr. Zhivago! by Boris Pasternak), is still scaring, or rather boring me. It is such a long time going anywhere, and the painstakingly correct transscription of the Russian names bother me.
I am still scared by that book.
So much actually, that I began reading again. I read several other books, some of which could qualify for this challenge, some decidedly not.  Being either modern Sct-Fi, childrens' books or just pure time-sinks.
Well not so good so far. The "Back to the Classics"- Challenge has sent me into the arms of modern or un-classic books.

But still the February die was thrown. I got an 8, meaning:

8. A classic with a single-word title.
- Odysseen (Οδύσσεια) by Homer. Time for a re-read. In Danish, not Greek.
- Gymnadenia by Sigrid Undset. Everybody knows Kristin Lavransdatter, but this one is maybe even better.

As I'm still struggling with Dr. Zhivago, I think I'll go for Gymnadenia, my only problem is that my copy of this book is in Norwegian ... Oh, well I think, I'm ready to tackle even this in order to avoid the Doctor.
