Today the answer was one of my starter words. Unfortunately the last one, I chose, but it still looks fun:

Poetry Monday :: Wild Goose Chase
Every Monday is Poetry Monday. Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings
and I have taken over the hosting duties, mostly the supplying of the
prompts - only temporarily we hope - while Diane at On the Border is
taking a break for health reasons.
I have something to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of others via the links, would you please leave a comment.
Half - if not more - the fun of these challenges is receiving the responses of others.
Today's prompt is Wild Goose Chase.
Last Monday I had some fun trying to misinterpret the saying - or rather by understanding its literal meaning. I did the same today for
Wild Goose Chase.
Now is the season for chasing wild geese
Their wedges are honking away on the breeze.
Oh, that's not what is meant?
But still it's the season for chasing wild geese
The sunshine has left us, the season is bleak
Oh, I'd like to fly too!
Now is the season for chasing wild geese
For dreaming while waiting for Spring and release
The winter endure!
I have something to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of others via the links, would you please leave a comment.

And now for some fun. One of my sons shared this animated song with me, I share it with you.

Today's prompt is Beating around the Bush
As I wrote, I have been procrastinating, and ended up doing what I should not do - read other blogs before finishing my poem. This time was an exception inasmuch as it actually helped me finish my poem.
This is a limping verse.
Beating around the bush.
What a strange saying, that.
Who's beating what
and why around a bush?
And why beating? Why not push.
Who is beating, who gets hit?
I do not get it, not a bit.
And please no beating, no, not a bush
Now I have been to Mimi's blog
and meaning I have gotten,
to whom ad why and where to beat.
Yes Mimi spoil us rotten.
If you also do not now the reason behind Beating around the Bush, then go and read Mimi's excellent explanation here.

Prompts for November:
Beating Around the Bush, November 4 (Today)
Wild Goose Chase, November 11
Jumping the Gun, November 18
Cry Wolf, November 25
The promised photos of Eco-printed papers have been snapped, and will go live tomorrow.

Words for Wednesday ~The Words and Wordle
Posted one minute to midnight because it contains Wordle spoilers.
The Word for Wednesday challenge started a long time ago. Now it has turned into a movable feast with Elephant's Child as our coordinator; and the Words are provided by a number of people.
The prompts for September are provided by Sean Jeating and can be found @ Elephant's Child.
The general idea of this challenge is to make us write. Poems, stories, subtitles, tales, jokes, haiku, crosswords, puns, ... you're the boss.
Use all Words, some Words, one Word, or even none of them if that makes your creative juices flow. Anything goes, only please nothing rude or vulgar.
It is also a challenge, where the old saying "The more the merrier" holds true.
So Please, remember to follow the links, go back and read other peoples' stories. And please leave a comment after reading. Challenges like this one thrives on interaction, feedback and encouragement. And we ALL need encouragement.
The Words for today are:
Church,
Hazel,
Hollow,
Red,
Whirlpool
and/or
Cave,
Mary,
Near,
Rapid,
White
I have been away for much of today, and I really like the Words - I want to use them for a chapter in Susan's story so no story today, I hope to have better time for writing later. But I am going to use a few of the Words for some fun. I'll probably re-use them for the Susan-story.
Today I solved the Wordle. I felt not proud and very proud at the same time.
Not proud because I used five guesses, and in later guesses I used letters, I knew were not in the word, and I put some letters where I knew they were not supposed to go.
It looked like this:
But I was very proud that I knew the word that is today's solution. I learned it years and years ago, and it is in no way similar to its Danish counterpart and it is not a word I use every day either.
Looking at today's Word it hit me that those of them containing five letters (Hazel - Rapid - White) could be a credible way of solving today's Wordle. I added Words as well, but could have done without.
Again, if you intend to solve today's Wordle, and you still can do so in your timezone, scroll down no further.
This might be a mock-up, but the solution is the right one.

Quirky Old Owl is still snapping Oreos ... ~ Underlige Ugle tager stadig billeder af Oreos ...
and moons ~ og måner
This is the latest experiment - Ecodyeing again. This time in the local crafting gulid under the tutelage of a more experienced dyer. This is the outset. The pre-mordante fabric was covered with a dye blanket (madder) and firmly rolled onto a rolled-up tovel and steamed for 1½ hours. The result was good, but not fanstastic, photo will follow.

Poetry Monday :: Market
Today's topic is Market. Yesterday an internet search brought me from Getafix, the Druid in Asterix ➡ the secondary characters ➡ Cacophonix, which in Scots is called Magonaglix ➡ to a hopeless poet, William McGonagall, whose only concern seems to have been that the poetry should rhyme - hence writing what The Writer and I have dubbed "Folk Song Army-Poetry" - think Tom Lehrer and his Folk Song Army 😀🎶
This rolled around in my head. And combined itself with today's topic: Market.
I pride myself of mostly being able to both rhyme and scan correctly ... but what if I tried not to - or only one at a time. I hope I'm not as bad as McGonagall (LINK, takes you to some examples in the Wikipedia article on him).
My Farmer's Market
I go to an old farmers market
every Saturday morning in town
I there sell my soap and my ointments,
Its a troublesome, funny event.
There are veggies and wine
There are coffee so fine
And knittings and handcrafts to boot.
Sometimes it is raining and dripping,
my soaps turn all mushy and soft
When the sun shines the soaps are all melting
and the ointments go liquid from heat,
And the storms blow to hell
all the things that I sell
even tables and all of my booth.
And the customers, they are a handful
some days not a soap I can sell
The next Saturday they all buy it,
and poor little me has to smell.
My booth do I close
And I just cannot cope
with cooking of yet a compound.
Oh, I suffer and shiver and swelter
I am pelted by sunshine and rain.
As I bike home I swear, I am cussing
And I say: No, nay, never again!
But the next Saturday you'll find me
at the old farmer's market in town.

Next Monday we'll tackle Instrument.

Today we had wonderful sunshine, and even though local showers were promised, they did not fall in our garden.

Verden omkring os er meget farverig for øjeblikket.
The world around us is very colourful right now.
Akelejerne blomstrer ~ The columbines are flowering
Den første valmue blomstrer ~ The first poppy is flowering
In this photo it looks like the light is falling through stained glass, but our windows are plain white.
Meget lilla prydløg ~ Very purple Allium
Månen ~ The Moon
And an orange flower for the Colour of the month.
Growing on my Moon Hill, a survivor from last summer's sowing of all my flower seeds
I have no idea what it is, and orange is probably the colour it is hardest to find in the Owlery.
GardenOwl has new blue flowers, and a frog has come visiting.
Og et par overraskelser ~ and a couple of surprises.
We cut down a small tree, and under the bark the cambium was ... pink!
Some of our eggs are green on the outside. This one was green inside too. We did not eat it.

Ik' mig ~ Not Me
Konklusionen? Ik'mig er en dreng!

In the Owlery are, or was 6 Owlets. Now they're mostly grown, but once upon a time the Owlery was teeming.
Sometimes it felt like a lot more than 6 children. And sometime when travelling I was sure that I had left behind a child, and had to count them, sometimes more than once. But always I made it to 6. No more, nor less.
At other times, I was sure I had an extra child. Often when I asked the Owlets who left the milk on the table, used up all the toilet paper, poured water all over or left the freezer open they all agreed that Not Me was the guilty child.
I never met said child. Not Me was never present at meals, not even when we said grace, nor when the dishes were to be done or the weeds pulled. In short only when no parents were around did Not Me sneak in and do its business. I say "its" because until yesterday I did not know if Not Me were a boy or a girl. But the day before yesterday the bathroom sink was sprinkled with the small ends of beard left over from shaving. The Writer has a beard, so not guilty. Next morning I asked all of the three - male - Owlets still at home, and once again they agreed. It was Not Me. The conclusion? Not Me is a boy!

Poetry Monday :: Shoes
Today's theme for Poetry Monday is Shoes. Poetry Monday is a challenge, hosted by Diane at On the Border.
But now only four times more. Monday, January 1, 2024 is Diane's last time hosting Poetry Monday, as she's taking a break due to health issues. Messymimi and I have a loose plan of keeping the chair warm for her - let's see what happens.
Again I tried to find a Danish song. Like my hoarse dragon, it was a song from a play or a musical. I remember a choir of small wood goblins, wood witches or cosy goblin singing a song called, Oh, my Shoes are Filled with Holes.
This time around it was all gone. What strange thing. Then I just had to improvise and this nonsense happened.
Oh, my shoes are filled with holes,
While I'm hunting with the trolls.
And I'm happy that it is not gnolls.
Oh, my shoes are filled with holes,
But I'm running with the foals -
And I'm happy that it is not moles.
Oh, my shoes are filled with holes,
But I'm skipping all the poles.
And I'm filling ice in all the bowls.
Oh, my shoes are filled with holes,
While I'm singing of the voles.
And I'm sure of reaching all my goals.

Poetry Monday :: Dictionary
Poetry Monday is a challenge, hosted by Diane at On the Border.
Today's prompt is Dictionary. I have a faible for dictionaries, and whenever we sat a test on any language in school, I sat reading the dictionary from when I was done with the test until it had to be handed in. We were not allowed to leave before the time was up.
I got the crazy idea to write this poem in the wee hours of the morning. It was funnier then - and I forgot some of the lines when I fell asleep again. I hope you'll find it just a little bit fun.
I love me dictionary have done so since my youth
He tells me lots of things and never not the truth
When ever theres a testing its him I look upon
I look up many words, he is never far from hand.
And when Im true with testing I sit meself and read
Of all the funny words, of their family and breed.
I read of the linguistics, and than the time is up
And I hand in my paper, and gather him all up.
And if you think this poem is not so very fine,
I probably should of used him for this poem-ing of mine.

Tirsdagstips :: Ramune
The Easiest Way to get the Glass Marble out of a Ramune Bottle.
Inside every bottle of Ramune (a Japanese brand of soft drinks) there is a glass marble. Of course I want to get it out to use for crazy projects. I do not like the easy solution; smash the bottle. I want my deposit back, and I am not a fan of broken glass.
Normally Google or YouTube is your friend, but not here. The solutions are either risky, overly complicated or just pranks.
I thunk and found a method.
A small saw with coarse teeth and a flat screwdriver
Noget til at holde flasken fast med ~~ something to hold the bottle steady
I am not that strong, my choice is the patient vise.
And an empty Ramune bottle - of course - preferably rinsed as Ramune is sticky!
Keep the bottle steady and cut down into the top of the cap until you reach the bottle, this gives off an unmistakable sound.
Hold saven skråt ...
Angle the saw ...
... and even more. Until stopped by the glass rim of the bottle.
Insert the screwdriver into the cut on top of the bottle and twist until the plastic breaks with a loud sound. Repeat on the other side.
Free the bottle, insert screwdriver as shown, and flip off the cap.
Pour out the glass marble, wipe off water and plastic debris. Enjoy.
Genbrug ~~ Recycle:
Flasken til pant, proppen til plastikgenbrug, glaskuglen til sjov.
The bottle for deposit (notice the deposit sticker), the cap into the plastic container, the glass marble for fun.
Composing this post took me way longer than freeing the glass marble from four bottles.

Man har brug for -- You'll need:
A small saw with coarse teeth and a flat screwdriver
-- 🔘 --
Noget til at holde flasken fast med ~~ something to hold the bottle steady
A friend or family member -- a vise -- your own hand if you are strong.
I am not that strong, my choice is the patient vise.

Poetry Monday :: Socks
Socks - apart from the fact that I like knitting them, and almost always wear a pair when leaving the house, I have not given socks much of a thought. And rhyming about socks?
Instead I dug up all the words (I hope I found them all) that rhymes with socks, and made them into this rambling nonsense rhyme.
Poetry Monday is a challenge, hosted by Diane at On the Border.
Socks
Fox
Ox
Cox
Box
Pox
Knox
Phlox
Crocs
Rocks
Blocks
Clocks
Docks
Knocks
Locks
Stocks
Once a fox and an ox
Saw four blocks and three frogs
On the docks.
And the cox steers the box
Round Fort Knox while the phlox
Gently rocks.
Oh a pox on the clocks
Say the warlocks and locks
All the crocs.
Guess who knocks out the locks
and who blocks all the stocks
It's the socks!

Words for Wednesday ~ 29 marts
In March, the Wednesday's Words are on River's blog. They were chosen by Susan Kane, but her family is having medical issues. Ergo, if you want to play along, hop over to River's blog.
For today we had these words:
1. steam
2. overview
3. bury
4. foundation
5. survey
6. reveal
and/or:
1. headline
2. fling
3. hand
4. emerald
5. safe
6. vein
Well I tried to continue my Susan story, but nothin good happened. Then suddenly my addled brain came up with this crazyness. As always I use the words in the order they were given. All critique applicable.
I build up steam
to do this meme
An overview
A follow through.
To bury a morale somewhere
Build a foundation, wisdom share.
But a survey will fast reveal
It's cliches only, all I steal.
A headline there
a last fling here.
A handful air,
a joke to spare.
An emerald? a last goodbye?
But we are safe, death passed us by.
I could continue in this vein,
but I'll spare you from the pain.

No Poetry Monday :: S.A.D
Frozen yoghurt ... this is only a thing that happens if I inadvertently leave a yoghurt outside on a cold day, that is to say almost never. I have no idea what to do with Frozen Yoghurt ... so instead a photo of my latest attack of S.A.D - Seed Aquisition Disorder.
The roots are by the way just the right colour for my Colour of the Month: Signal white.

Next Monday we tackle: Random Acts of Kindness

Poetry Monday :: Candy Canes
Poetry Monday is hosted by Diane, and she and Mimi of
Messymimi's Meanderings are always posting wonderful, funny,
thought-provoking, ingenious and honestly well written verse. Go and
read them!
Karen of Baking in a Tornado has joined this crazy pursuit, and promises us at least a poem a month!
SpikesBestMate often publishes a nice verse in the comments.
Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break. Her inspiring poetry is sorely missed, we hope she comes back soon.
This Mondays topic is Candy Canes.
In "big words" I wrote a contrafactum.
Enjoy or not as you find good.
Merry and blessed Christmas to each an all of my readers.

Ode to the Candy Cane
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
You are a thing of Christmas
And I love every inch of you
Your stripes, your curves, your colours too.
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
You are a thing of Christmas
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
Your colours are so pretty.
So green, so re, so pearly white
I love you, every lick and bite
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
Your colours are so pretty.
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
Your flavour is delicious.
Of tastiness you pack a punch
And I love you when you go "crunch".
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
Your flavour is delicious.
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
I know where you are hiding.
I pick you off the branches green
Enjoy you in the candles' sheen
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
I know where you are hiding.
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
You are a thing of Christmas
And when you're no more to be found
I know next year you'll hang around.
Oh Candy Cane, oh Candy Cane,
You are a thing of Christmas.

Valgplakater -- Election Posters
Men alle må kigge.
You are not, as in totally NOT allowed to draw on or otherwise harm any election posters. No matter how tempting this might seem.
Luckily my own photos of election posters are not forbidden territory.
I drew, here are the results - most of them are only funny if you know some Danish (and Swedish) and are older than say 30 years, but anyway.
They have been given their own page, and maybe the collection will grow.
MotherOwl's prediction: The coming election will see more anti-immigrant rigth-wing politicians with a say in the Danish Folketing than before. She is not optimistic.

*) nej, ikke fru Bager, hende den anden - gå HER og scroll ned til den 13.

Z - A :: Zip through Autumn ~ 2
Second installment of Zip through Autumn is: Xenodochy in blogging, Why blog
Xenodochy ... ? I think I have a fairly large English vocabulary, but this was a new one. Xeno- means something with strangers, but the rest ... ? The dictionary tells me: "reception of strangers; hospitality" Aha, yes this is what blogging is all about. Greeting strangers, inviting them inside your life, making them feel at home and even visiting them. This is one of the reasons my blog is bilingual. Most strangers are not good at Danish 🙂
And as to why I blog, that's an easy one. I love writing, sharing my ideas, teach something, share tips and stories, and a blog is excellently suited to this.

The most stranger-friendly language sure must be pictograms. And IKEA of Sweden is famous, maybe even of Herostratic fame (to stay with the old Greeks) for the pictograms in their assembly instruction leaflets.
This is a long detour for me to share the photo of an idea that came to me upon seeing an IKEA tea bag among a gift of tea bag wrappers for folding.
-- ɣ --

What is inside an IKEA tea bag? -- ε -- Hvad er der inden i en IKEAthepose?
