Poetry Monday :: No Poetry Edition ~
Colour26 & Wordle - Solution!

Today it's Poetry Monday, and the prompt is Blue.

Today I've been away plant dyeing all day. And no, we did not dye Blue, butt a pretty reddish brown.

Today I solved the Wordle with only Greens again. The answer was not Blue either. Chili is Red.

Because of the solution, my post won't go live until midnight.

.
Today it's the first of June. The colour of the month is Razzmatazz, which most of us, including  Mimi's Little Annie and River's twins would simply call Pink. Even if the colour of Our Lady normally is Blue, this was the colour of the flowers I picked for her today.

A whole post with neither Blue nor any Poetry. I hope you'll forgive me.

My comments are still mostly not posting - even here. And if they do post, half of them dissapear without trace.

Vintergækker & erantis
Early Spring Flowers - No Poetry

-- 𑽇 --

Sunday the world around me was still covered in snow, and the big drift on top of the storm drain was not visibly smaller.
Monday the world was still frozen, the drift a wee bit smaller, but outside in a dry spot something grew ...

-- 𑽇 --

Murky weather makes for unclear photos, but these are snowdrops and eranthis, the archetypical Danish early spring flowers.

  -- 𑽇 -- 𑽇 --

-- 𑽇 --
And I forgot hitting "Publish" sorry.

There'll be no Poetry for this Monday. I was busy and just returend home from a meeting. And Doughnut  did not inspire me.

Kokosnødder eller ej
Poetry Monday :: Coconut or not

A coconut is not a nut...

..  --- 🥥   🥥 --- ..

When I think og vriting a poem with coconuts one of two songs surface in my brain. Either the Danish version of I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts - the Danish version is totally nuts (!) and tells the story of a child, telling his dad about his trying to open a coconut, making ever growing disasters, breaking the hammer, hurting himself, and mum, ruining the table, the doors ...  in the end blowing up the house with dynamite. Every verse ending with the refrain "... but the coconut looks just like its old self."

The new one is known to most of you, I think:

The coconut nut is a giant nut
If you eat too much, you'll get very fat
Now, the coconut nut is a big, big nut
But this delicious nut is not a nut

It's the coco fruit
Of the coco tree
From the coco palm family

It's the coco fruit
Of the coco tree
From the coco palm family

Neither of these songs are conductive to poeming anything, so I ask to be excused today.

No Poetry ~ and no, MotherOwl has not gone missing 😕

Sorry. I was too busy, and the prompt Dismembered only made me think macabre thoughts, or of the Knights who say Ni! none of it good for any poetry.
I did not draw anything either - it is a drawing prompt first, and I usually draw something with these prompts every day. But not today.

And now it's Tuesday, and I see that I forgot to press "Publish". Double sorry. I promise to be back soon!

Poetry Monday :: Big City :: in German and no Cities
~ Updated with more verses

Stikordene kommer fremover fra 365 Days of Drawing Prompts and other Arts.

- A - - B - - C -

Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings and I have taken over the hosting duties, mostly the supplying of the prompts - only temporarily we hope - while Diane at On the Border is taking a break for health and relaxation, travelling the world with her husband as far as we can tell.

We just hope she's going to take back over once she returns home.

The prompts now come from 365 Days of Drawing Prompts and other Arts group. This is a Facebook group with a prompt for each day of the year, but no worries, the prompts will still be here and at Mimi's blog.

I have something more to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of others via the links, would you please leave a comment.
Half - if not more - the fun of these challenges is receiving the responses of others
.

Today's subject is Big City!

- A - - B - - C -

Today is Poetry Monday, the theme is Big City, but as I woke up this morning, a poem in German! was in my head. But why?

Nächtliche Konversation:
A - Ist bald der dunkle Nacht vorbei?

A - Und was ist's jetzt
B - Dreiviertel sechs
    - bald kommt das Morgengrauen
    - Schließ du bloß deine Augen

A - Jetzt scheint die helle Sonne rein

English literal translation:

Nightly Comversation
A - Will this dark night soon have an end?
B - the clock says only two
Lay yourself down and go to sleep
And wake in morning sunshine.

A - Now what's the time?
B - A quarter to six
    - Soon will the morning break
    - now you go back to sleep

A - And now the sun is shining brigth
B - You may get up now, time is right
A - Oh dear, I am so tired now,
    - an hour more will sit just right.

Dansk oversættelse:

Natlig samtale
A- Er den mørke nat snart slut?
B - Klokken er stadig kun to
Læg du dig ned og sov igen
Og vågn i morgensolskinnet.

A - Og nu, hvad er klokken nu?
B - Et kvarter i seks
    - Snart gryer dagens grå min ven
    - så luk du øjenene igen

A - Åh se, nu skinner solne klart
B - Nu står vi op, er det ikke rart?
A - Men jeg er træt, jeg ikke vil.
    - jeg sover lige en time til.

Poetry Monday :: Captain

Heller ikke andre engelske end "Oh, no John":
My father was a Spanish captain
Went to sea a month ago
First he kissed me then he left me
Bid me always answer no
Oh, no John, no John, no John, no

- A - - B - - C -

Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings and I have taken over the hosting duties, mostly the supplying of the prompts - only temporarily we hope - while Diane at On the Border is taking a break for health and relaxation, travelling the world with her husband as far as we can tell.

We just hope she's going to take back over once she returns home.

I have something to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of others via the links, would you please leave a comment.
Half - if not more - the fun of these challenges is receiving the responses of others
.

Ay, ay sir, Today is Poetry Monday, and rhyming we must go. But Captain ... It was strangely missing in my list of prompts, and it is one of those words. I do not know why, but some words immediately make a song run around in my brain like a do chasing its own tail. Captain is one of these, having me listen to "Oh, no John" on repeat.
This is counterproductive for any poeming, so all I have to give today is a repost from September 19th, 2022 - Pirate day, where Dread Captain DeMeza organises the fun.

September 19th we celebrate Talk like a Pirate Day! Which happens to be a day celebrated in the online game World of Warcraft too.

In that other world where oft I go
For rest and relaxation
It's Pirates day today. YAHOO!
We have some recreation

A mug of rum, or maybe two
To end our deprivation,
Forget the fights with friend and foe
Now I'm a pirate too!

Ol' Chumbucket then spoke to me
A word of truth and wisdom.
Dress like a pirate halfway be
To talk like one - perfection!

So 'hoy there, matey! it'll be
Instead of "Hello darling".
And should I like a cup of tea
Yarrr! Tea! you'll hear me snarling!

Poetry Monday :: Apple :: Not Poetry

Posted one minute to midnight for reasons that will become obvious further down.

Today's topic is Apple. I was not able to write any poems, but last Wednesday the prompt for 365 Days of Drawing Prompts was Apples and I drew a couple of grungy apples, grungy being the InkTober prompt of the day. I'm trying to teach myself drawing in ink + one colour and cross hatching. At least it's fun. The colour here is not very obvious, a very pale tan.

A bit more than a year ago, I tried to make the Wordle of the relevant day fit the topic of either Poetry Monday or the Words for Wednesday. Today I tried to simply use Apple as the first guess - it went surprisingly well.

I've tried to find out if this Wordle is still accessible after my midnight and failed to find anything conclusive ... but ... if you still have not solved the Wordle for October 21st and can and want to, do not scroll down.

I simply did not find anything to write about today's subject Teddy Bears.

Jævndøgn :: Poetry Monday:: Buzzards ~
No Poetry so far :: Spring Equinox

NOW rigth this minute spring starts. It's Spring Equinox. It's raining, and I'm busy editing a magazine. And Buzzards ... I got them mixed up with vultures, and have been thinking of the Undertaker from Lucky Luke and his black hearse all day - not conductive for a nice and relaxing day.
For this reason no poems about either buzzards, vultures, owls or indeed any other feathered creature have formed inside my head.

-- 🦅 -- ⏰ -- 🦉 --

No Poetry Monday :: S.A.D

Drawn by this guy 🌱 Tegnet af ham her

Frozen yoghurt ... this is only a thing that happens if I inadvertently leave a yoghurt outside on a cold day, that is to say almost never. I have no idea what to do with Frozen Yoghurt ... so instead a photo of my latest attack of S.A.D - Seed Aquisition Disorder.

The roots are by the way just the right colour for my Colour of the Month: Signal white.

Monday without Poetry

Today the topic is Memorial Day, which I'll skip as usual.
Memorial Day is not celebrated in Denmark, and as I am not one for praising soldiers or war efforts in general, no poeming will happen.

  - - - - -

Next Monday the topic is Yo-yo.

  - - - - -

Instead of a poem I'll post some photos from the past week.

Our view on our way home yesterday.

Pirate cut the watermelon the other way. It's pretty.

You can just see the sea in this photo.

Saying good-bye to the statue of Virgin Mary of Aasebakken after the pilgrimage yesterday.

Poetry Monday :: Remembering 8-Track -- No Poetry Version -- Updated.

If you want to read some better  poetry,  Diane - who has taken over the hosting of  this challenge - and Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings - who also supplies us with topics - are writing wonderful, funny, thought-provoking, ingenious and honestly well written verse. Go and read.

Karen of Baking in a Tornado has joined us in this crazy pursuit, and promises us at least a poem a month - may  we hope for more!
SpikesBestMate often publishes a nice verse in the comments.

Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey who has been a faithful participant, is slowly returning to blogging after her husband's passing from this world. Let's continue to send warm thoughts, good energy, and lots of prayers her way. And dare we hope that she will join Poetry Monday again.

-- --

This Mondays topic is Remembering 8-track. I had to look it up, and as 8-track just never reached Denmark, I have no memories of it.

My early recording memories were the big, heavy reel-to-reel tape recorders lugged around by professionals. Then came the endless loop cassettes - soo smart - and just maybe those actually were 8-tracks? As I wrote in the comments section, they were not in personal use, but used by shops, ferry-lines and so on for announcing of offers, practical notices and so on.
Later the small dictaphones entered, and finally - wonder of wonders - the compact cassettes. We had an early prototype with mike and all, and me and my sister made mock radio-reportages from wannabe jungle expeditions in our backyard. Waterfall and insect sound effects in the background were made by inventive procedures.
The Walkman only joined the party as I was
almost grown up. My sister, 3 years younger than me, had one, but I never bothered.
As you see from this, I was not much into listening to music all the time, although I remember one very long holiday by car where we had forgotten the tapes at home, and only had one music casette to listen to all holiday!

In Danish there's a song about the joys and sorrows of owning a Walkman - I'd like to translate it, but I'm not sure I can do it - or that I can do it without being chased by copyright-owners. Danish music-copyright-rules are tough and meticulously upheld

No Poetry Monday

Dear co-poetists

Today you'll get no poem from me for several reasons:

- I forgot.
- I have some health issues.
- My creative juices are filled with Susan and her Birch Manor tales.
- I don NOT like peanut butter at all. This makes it quite hard to write about.

As a compensation two photos taken at our local pond less than a week apart:

16 januar 2021

21 januar 2021

But still we need to be told the subjects for the coming weeks. Huge thanks to Diane of On the Border for providing them:
Be Nasty Day (March 8)
Pi(e) Day (what else would it be?) (March 15)
World Poetry Day (March 22)
Something on a Stick Day (March 29)
Read a Road Map Day (April 5)
Favorite invention (From Mimi) (April 12)
National Garlic Day (April 19)
The ocean or beach (From Mimi) (April 26)
The best thing about spring (From Mimi) (May 3)

And if you want to actually read some poetry,   Diane and Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings  write wonderful, funny, thought-provoking, ingenious and honestly well written verse. Go and read.
Karen of Baking in a Tornado has joined us in this crazy pursuit, and promises us at least a poem a month - may  we hope for more.
