A question about dried versus fresh or frozen walnut husks led to this experiment:.
Cirka 12 tørrede valnøddeskaller blev sat i blød. Næste dag puttede jeg et fed garn næsten ned i gryde, det skulle egerne ende med at blive tofarvet.
Approximately 12 dried walnut husks were put in the pot to soak. Next day a hank of yarn was partly immersed. The hank should end up multicoloured like the other experiments.
Og her er resultatet -- This is the result
Så stod jeg på hovedet i fryseren og fandt en pose frosne valnøddeskaller frem. Her er 12 af dem.
I dived into the freezer and dug out a bag of frozen walnut husks, here are 12 of them.
Resultatet af frosne valnøddeskaller - - The result with frozen husks.
Og dem begge to - - Both together now.
PS:
Den grønne top er røde hasselblade, og ja, det er ujævnt og ja, det er med vilje.
The green on top is leaves from red hazel. Yes it is splotchy, and Yes I made it like that.
Frosne valnødder farver meget bedre end tørrede, men friske er stadig bedre.
Frozen walnuts dye better than dried ones, but fresh are superior.

I am so enjoying your experiments.
SvarSletFresh is best is true of so many things isn't it?
I like the splotchy red hazel colouration too.
Will the walnut coloring hold up? It is very good.
SvarSletWalnut colour is very light- and washfast in my experience, I love it.
