Søndagsbilleder :: Stålblå 3
Sunday Selections :: Steel Blue 3

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
Today is the last chance to show off all the wonderfully blue items from August.
 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
Reeds ... growing in a very dry spot on our pavement!

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
Reed flowers dye green. They do so also when EcoPrinting  (also featuring dyer's chamomile and maple leaves.)

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
Here is another floral painting. It features tickseeds (orange), dyer's chamomile (yellow) and hollyhocks (blue) against a background of ferns (light green).

En imponerende papegøje på en have-messe. Jeg holdt respektfuld afstand. Sådan én bed mig i fingeren for mange år siden.
 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
A beautiful parrot on a garden fair. I kept my distance. As a child I was bitten by just such a parrot.

Flot busk.
 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
A pretty bush. I never saw something like it, but an internet search taught me that it is a tamarix. I really like it, even if pink's not my cup of tea.

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
Owls on the other hand ... these ones came home with me in digital format only.

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
Here's another parliament that stayed in the shop window.

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
We needed a cup of coffee, and luckily we found the Coffee Heroes. The coffee was good.

 - 🔹🔷🔹 -
And last, but not least, me, MotherOwl finally taming the blackcurrant vines behind the new shed. One of the Owlets had given me a pair of sturdy yet supple gloves and I had bought a pair of garden shears.

Sunday Selections ~ Steel Blue
Søndagsbilleder ~ Stålblå

Today it's still August, the Colour of the Month is still Steel blue. I do not find this blue very steely. But I'm not one to complain over any blue.

All the photos are from today  ~  Alle billederne er taget i dag.

Starting with today's mug. Today my favourite supermarked would have celebrated its 130th birthday.
- 🔷 -
Vi begynder med dagens tekop. I dag ville Irma være fyldt 130 år.

Then off we went for mass. At the station the weather could not make up its mind. Looking to the Vest
- 🔷 -
Så tog vi til messe. På stationen kunne vejret ikke beslutte sig. Vi kigger først mod vest

... and twards the East  ~  og så mod øst.
We had sunshine and heavy showers before we reached church. It was the same on our way hime.
- 🔷 -

- 🔷 - 🔷 -

We brought a mint plant for a couple of good friends.
- 🔷 -
This photo also makes me a bit grumpy. The "Blue spot" is meant for the old ticket system, and no longer in use. It seems to me that every time they make a new system, it's more expensive and less user friendly and practical than the old one.
- 🔷 -
Billedet her gør mig også lidt trist.

- 🔷 - 🔷 -

And in the news: A campaign against drunken drivers. I find it refreshing that it's an old woman being asked to "please breathe into this", instead of the stereotypical young man.
- 🔷 -

Blue :: Sunday Selection ~ Colour26

It started off innocently with blue arrows and squiggles sprayed on the tarmac.
"My" arrow - and very dusty shoe!  ~ "Min" pil, og meget støvede sko!

Then came the signs and so on.
Så kom skiltene og alt det andet.

Now every arrow has its own small excavation. Tomorrow: My arrow. New water pipes are installed.

And they're BLUE! ~ Og de er BLÅ!

Colour26 ... Poetry and Words
Where Have I Been?

Words for Wednesday ~ August 12, Words supplied by Mimi @ Messymimi's Meanderings. The Words can be found there and at River's blog: Drifting through Life.

Plastic
Remain
Tooth
Wisecrack
Distant
Enjoy
    and/or the following phrases
Heads up (an advance warning)
Not all it's cracked up to be (failing to be as good as other people claim)
Playing possum (pretending to be dead, or being deceitful)

Using all words and expressions in the order they were given, dramatic and over the top, based in truth:

Plastic seems to be all that remain of my poor tooth. My dentist said the following wisecrack: Your teeth are all soon to be distant works of art, enjoy them while they're still there.

In other words, she gave me a heads-up to start saving for some major work. I do not think dentures are all they're cracked up to be, so I'll go on trying to retain my few remaining teeth and play possum when the subject arises, until it can no longer be dodged.

Poetry Monday ~ August 10, prompt: Bluebell
This prompt was given for Monday 10th, the birthday of one of my sons. And in my head rolls a tune, I always thought to be Bluebells of Scotland, but is not. One of my other sons participated in a theatre at school, where this tune; the 'not-Bluebells of Scotland' was used. It went on about sheep, about sheep-shearing, and of sheep-shearers up in the highlands. I think it was made for the occasion, as I cannot find it anywhere.
It wholly and totally prevents me thinking any sensible thought on Bluebells.

And the Colour of August:

One photo from last week
That's not Denmark 😉. We were away on a mini-holiday, visiting Ribe, Hamburg, and Lübeck. This is from Hamburg, a picture of what I called the "Terrible Tower" The church was bombed during WWII, the tower still stands, fortified, and a lift takes you to the top of the then tallest, now still fifth-tallest church tower in the world. During the trip up and down you can look directly down and out through all the holes and missing windows! Did I ever tell you that I'm not fond of heights?

And Wordle for Tuesday, August 11 ... the day I returned

Poetry Monday :: Tractor & Belated Colour26

Every Monday is Poetry Monday.

Poetry Monday is a blogging challenge started by Diane @ On the Border in February 2017, and later it was picked up by Delores @ Mumblings and Jenny @ Procrastinating Donkey.
Then Dolores took over the hosting duties; but when Dolores left the internet, Diane returned and took over hosting duty again with her and Jenny taking turns suggesting a topic.

    Now Mimi @
Messymimi's Meanderings and I have taken over, as Diane seems disinclined to take up Poetry Monday again.

The prompts are now taken from 365 Days of Drawing Prompts and other Arts group. This is a Facebook group with a (drawing) prompt for each day of the year, but no worries, the prompts will still be here and at Mimi's blog. And they mostly lend themselves perfectly for poeming as well.

I have something to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of others via the links, would you please leave a comment.
Half - if not more - the fun of these challenges is receiving the responses of others
.

Today the prompt is
Tractor. This is an easy prompt for me. The steers outside are filled with tractors, red Tractors, green tractors, blue tractors, all lugging a trailer, sometimes in the same colour as the tractor, but often not. The other day two busy tractors crossed one another outside de our house, going slowly in the narrow road. One loaded, one empty, one red tractor with a green trailer, one green tractor with a red trailer. I do not know why we found this so fun, but it was ... just one of these things.

The blue tractors are mostly the excat blue I found for the Colour of the Month.

Just outside my door
I see tractors galore
It is harvest time

Blue tractors that fill
trailers to the gills
It is harvest time

They swing and they sway
throughout the day
It's harvest time

The grain that it spills
end up in the bills
of sparrows and tits.

We hear the combine
from seven to nine
around the clock.

Outside my door
there's tractors galore.
It's harvest time.

Colour of the Month ~ August ~ Månedens farve

The colour of the Month for August is  ~  Månedens farve for august er

For August I originally had yet a green, after finishing, I tried another, and got this pretty blue.

Sunday Selection ~ Rubber Ducks
Søndagsbilleder ~ Badeænder

Back then, over 30 years ago, when I painted the bathroom for the first time, stencil painting was all the rage. I wanted to give it a go too, but stencils were ridiculously expensive. I got a couple for free from the paint shop, but they weren’t all that inspiring. So I simply made my own. Some sheets for an  overhead projector, flotsam from some failed project was perfectly good – stiff and easy to draw on. So I had a bit of fun and made some flowers for the stairs – perhaps more on that later – and a rubber duck with waves for our bathroom.

  〰  🦆  〰

  〰  🦆  〰

Unfortunately, the stencil paint had hardened up, and unlike back then, paint is now ridiculously expensive and stencils quite cheap, so I bought ordinary paint instead. It doesn’t give quite as good a result, but it’s not too bad. Yes, I still had the old stencils. I even knew where!
We simply have to have rubber ducks in our bathroom!
  〰  🦆  〰
Here I begin, waves, a rubber duck, waves, a rubber duck, and so on.
  〰  🦆  〰
Her er starten, En blå bølge, en badeand, en blå bølge, nok en and, og så videre.

And the end reaching the other side of the window. One of the ducks to the right looks not quite right
  〰  🦆  〰

Oh, it's green, and swimming the wrong way too. This is new, I wonder what the Owlets will say, when they come home visiting ...
  〰  🦆  〰

The one on the small cupboard turned green as well. It's an opposite duck, maybe.
If you embiggen this photo you might be able to see the shadow of two leaves and an owl; old stickers, that I peeled off after they sat there for very long. The cupboard catches the morning sun and has turned ivory over the years. Not so the parts cowered by leaves and owl.
    This happened Wednesday and Thursday.
  〰  🦆  〰

  〰  🦆  〰

Friday I put everything back in place, also this rubber duckling, living in the window sill.
  〰  🦆  〰
And I saw why I was not fully satisfied with the look of the two green ducks ... their bill should be red, not green! Try again!
  〰  🦆  〰
Ducks not quite in a row, now red-billed.
  〰  🦆  〰
Ænder på rad og række, sådan da. Nu med røde næb.

And the one on the cupboard. I think this is the nicest of the lot.
  〰  🦆  〰

  〰  🦆  〰

I think that those ducks count for the colour of the month as well.
  〰  🦆  〰

Colour26

This past week ... I've been folding tiny stars.
Each star is made from nine squares cut from a tea bag wrapper or an equivalent size of gift wrapper. I know what I'm going to use them for -- or at least I have an idea.

There's something Jade green in this star.

I've  hung up decorative objects on our new shed.

And eaten summer candy.

Og spist sommerslik.

And seen a snake ... or maybe not.

Og set en slange ... eller også ikke.
This last one has a partially Jade green background.

Very fast, it's beyond bedtime.
Lots of pic featuring Jade green as background for other colours. More text will follow.

I hast, for det er længst sengetid.
Masse billeder med Jadegrøn som baggrund for andre farver. Mere tekst følger.

Golden gooseberries on the bush, I saved.  ~  Gyldne stikkelsbær på den busk jeg reddede.

Redcurrants that are really red, and not yet eaten by blackbirds or doves
~

Oxalis, This luscious plant began as three tiny, shrivelled bulbs.

Oxalis. Denne overdådige plante begyndte sit liv som tre småbitte indtørrede knolde.

White redcurrants, "invisible" to blackbirds and doves.

One of my yellow birthday roses.  ~  En af mine gule fødselsdagsroser.

Grapes coming up.  ~  Kommende vindruer.

~
This funny bush with charming blue flowers was all alone in the supermarket and begged to come home with me. I was unable to resist. It is called a Ceanothus thyrsiflorus - I have to look this up every time. It's not hardy, and I just hope it survives if I cover it up well.

Peas, The Pirate thinks they look like eggplants, and he's not wrong.
~
Ærter. Piraten mener de ligner auberginer. Det er ikke helt forkert.

Månedens farve ~ Juli ~ Colour of the Month

The colour of the Month for July is  ~  Månedens farve for juli er
