D for Dråber

Ⓐ - Ⓩ

Every day at noon (except Sundays) a new A-Z post goes live - or no post today.
The theme for this year, is Dream - Duality. let's see what crosses my mind on this theme.

D for Dråber / Droplets

I was - already - out of ideas for the A-Z Challenge. A random Word Generator gave me Dråber - Droplets. I got to tell a bit more of them.
They have their own blog, The Rainbow Droplets. Here a How it all began, tells of who the Droplets are. But how they came to be is not in it. When we moved in, we had an apple tree in the garden, carrying very sour, inedible apples. One day, we sat drawing, BigSis drew a small guy with a drop as a head and told me he lived inside the sour apples. After this day,the good night story was an instalment of the Droplets' adventures - often very similar to what The Owlets had been up to.
As the family grew, the Droplets took on responsibility. They helped Trolli, Marsupilami, MiniMax, and Pirate in their reading and counting journey. They taught music, moral and many ohter things.Of course never explicitly, but hidden in a good story.
.

This is a dummy of the first page of A Fat Goat. Written in simple, short words and with lots of them ending in D, which at the end of Danish words is [ð], an almost voiceless sound much like th in this.
My dream was to create a system for beginner reading, build logically and with happy, innocent stories, making the Owlets suffer and smile with the Droplets while learning.
My idea worked, all the Owlets turned into good readers - some of them despite their teachers doing their worst - but I never got any further than writing 8 of around 24 planned books.

  1. Reading is an incredible gift. I am endlessly grateful to my parents for instilling my love of it - which I strongly suspect is also true of the Owlets.

    1. I hope I did, some love reading more than others, bu time will tell.

  2. You could still write the rest of the stories, i am sure they'd be popular with other parents of young readers.

    1. Or at least I could write for my grandkids. The oldest is an avid reader already.

  3. I like your book idea and wish you had gone on with it. Perhaps again soon? I don't think we have any words with a soft D, none that I can think of anyway.

  4. The Droplets sound like good teachers. Perhaps you'll finish this book idea later on.

    Have a lovely day.
