Ⓐ - Ⓩ ~ Fiona & Veronika

This is a series of studies for my long-time-in-the-writings book about the magic in the Nordic countries.
We are in the 70es on Unicorn Island, an island off the coast of southern Zealand. A handful of teachers have gathered the broken threads of magic once again, trying to revive the magic in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, the Faroes and partially Greenland.
Our main protagonist is Susan (me) from Elsinore and her three co-apprentices and friends Heidi, Tage and Lis living at Unicorn Island.
I grasped the chance to write a little bit about some of the lesser known apprentices in this A-Z challenge.

F is for Fiona & Veronika Andersen from Denmark

Fiona and Veronka lives in a commune in Rødovre, a suburb to Copenhagen, with their parents and two other families.
The two sisters look quite alike, with long blonde hair and bluish eyes, but they are as different as day and night. Fiona is a great flyer and starts out being quite bad at all other subjects, but her stubborn streak helps her to become really good at healing, everyday magic and teleportation. From the get go Veronika is good at nature magic, a great healer, and generally good at all subjects. She is more easygoing, and good natured.
Fiona's wand is made of Witch hazel and her sparks are sunshine yellow, while Veronica's Rowan wand emits true purple sparks. We meet Fiona, 11, and her sister Veronika, 13 the very first day at the Unicorn Farm. They are intimidating to Susan, as they are looking very modern, dressed in maxiskirts, flowery shirts and heavy peace signs in leather cords, they are furthermore self assured and outgoing.

    1. Thank you, I enjoy writing these small stories, doubly so when they are read.

  2. Having the tenacity to study and work hard can serve a person well in school. I know many for whom the studies came easily, but they did not do as well in life as those who had to work harder for their grades.

    1. This is true, and a lesson Susan had a hard time learning ;)

  3. Being able to learn more than one skill is a skill in itself. I hope Susan wasn't intimidated for too long when she first met these two.

    1. She was not, In the next scene they're all asked to undress (to underwear, not nude ;) ), remove all hairbands, necklaces and so on, and then dressed in shcool uniforms. People in underwear or school uniform are way less intimidating.

  4. I like people with stubborn streaks, guess that means I have that too. I think I would feel the same way as Susan because I am not modern dressed at all.

Maxishirts and flowery shirts - I guess they wear two shirts? Or is that maxiskirt?

    Have a lovely day.

    1. Stubborn can be good!
And once again thanks for catching my mistakes. Those are indeed maxiskirts. I will correct.
