It is typically Danish to try and monetize a thing if you can. I do not like this, and I do not really think it is a was of living that makes you many friends.

I am participating in the 1 sqm flax by the Nordic crafters' guilds, and from time to time I have a newsletter. This time another news item caught my eye: Nordic Craft Week, celebrated in September each year.

In 2022 the subject was sweaters. I liked what I saw, but then ...
Translation:
Denmark: Ancher's sweater (Michael Ancher is a Danish painter, known for his paintings of fishermen) Design and yarn from Isager. The pattern is for sale at Isager's strik (link) Estonia: The sweater from Estonia is a men's sweater from the isle of Kihnu.
Pattern for Kihnu sweater (link).
Iceland: With a classical look the Icelandic contribution is the design called Gjöf.
Pattern for the Gjöf sweater (link).
Finland: The contribution is a Korsnäs sweater. Pattern and tale of the Korsnäs sweater (link - not working because the home page is being reconstructed)

Sverige siger endog "Sharing is caring".

Following this link, will take you to a homepage with free patterns from many of the Nordic crafting weeks. But the Danish link leads to a pdf with only the story of the sweater and a link to where you can buy the pattern  for 50 kroner (app. 6.5 Euro). It's in the normal range for patterns, but I feel bad about this. Sweden's pattern is even presented under the caption "Sharing is Caring". If I were behind that homepage, I would feel ashamed.

  1. I agree with you. We all need to make some money, but that doesn't mean we can't be generous and sometimes just do things for the love of those things, too.
