MotherOwl has her fine foraging crate, but it is not so good, when MotherOwl sees something interesting and potentially edible by the road on her way home from shopping. She also has to remember to bring the crate, and it takes up all of the luggage rack on the bike. Space normally filled up with groceries when MotherOwl is on her way home.
Now what? For some time MotherOwl brought a furoshiki, but it could hold only one thing at a time, it had a tendency to spill its contents, and quite often the berries were mashed.
Med to adskilte rum.

MotherOwl had an idea. A foraging bag. Made of fabric, so that it could be tucked into a corner of the backpack, but yet sturdy enough to hold the berries without spilling. With 2 separate compartments. Hanging over one arm in order to let MotherOwl hold onto the branches with one hand, pick the fruits with the other hand, and put the berries into the bag without acrobatics. YES!
Her er tegningen Uglemor lavede i sin gode bog. ★ Here's the drawing MotherOwl made in her book. |

MotherOwl cut and sewed, and without time for finer details like cutting off ends or turning all seams -- it is a prototype after all - she tucked the bag in a corner of her backpack and went off in search of the Owlets to go shopping. On her way home she took some time to test the bag.
Mock-up photo in the garden. MotherOwl do not pick anything off Virginia creeper. |

It worked like MotherOwl imagined, actually even better. She picked some sloe and haws to test the two rooms of the bag. It was great that the two inner bags were not held together in any way. MotherOwl had to fill up the space in the middle with something else:
Karl Johan, summerrørhatte og røde birkerørhatte i smuk svampesymfoni. King bolete, summer boletes, and orange birch boletes make a mushroom symphony. |

Oops, The Writer cut up half of it before a photo was taken. Here's the other half. Karl Johan og rød birkerørhat. Er de ikke smukke? King bolete and orange birch bolete. Pretty, aren't they? |

MotherOwl went for yet another foraging trips, this time bringeing the foraging crate as well. The bag was filled with sloeberries and haws. After MotherOwl poured these berries into the crate, in separate boxes, she picked the very last very ripe small plums. They lay in the foraging bag hanging from MotherOwl's arm all the way home. Biking with the bag was no problem, and the small plums were still unharmed as we reached home.
Another good use for the foraging bag.
You'll also need 2 snaps (in the middle of inner bags) and some string for tying. |
Fin!
