Walking home from the bus, I found an unusual clone of Mayweed. Instead of being only red at he base, the stems were red almost to the top.
I decided to make it a real experiment, cutting off 20 g. of the red plant and 20 g. of a normal one.
Further experimenting was Cow parsley. I read that the flowers dye yellow, whereas stems and leaves dye green. This had to be tried as well. 20 g. leaves and stems and 20 g flowers went into two more jars. Last year's dye pot with all of it together yielded a greenish yellow. I'm on the lookout for a dark variety of this plant, known as Ravenswing. It should exist in the wild as well.
Then each jar had 5 g. pre-mordanted wool and water added, and then put side by side in the wonderful cooking pot. I'm looking forward to daylight tomorrow to see and compare the colours.
