Poetry Monday :: Journey between Stars (Blogtober 27)

Poetry Monday - what's that? It is a blooging game, that Mimi of Messymimi's Meanderings and I have taken over the hosting duties, mostly the supplying of the prompts - only temporarily we hope - while Diane at On the Border is taking a break for health and relaxation, travelling the world with her husband as far as we can tell.  We just hope she's going to take back over once she returns home.

The prompts now come from 365 Days of Drawing Prompts and other Arts group. This is a Facebook group with a prompt for each day of the year, but no worries, the prompts will still be here and at Mimi's blog.

Stikordene kommer nu  fra 365 Days of Drawing Prompts and other Arts.

Journey between Stars. I ask you to bear with me for a long poem. Not all the rhymes are good, not all the lines fit my scheme, and it's mostly about planets. But I like it, and hope that you do too.

Let's travel out between the stars,
fist stop is neighbour planet Mars
The red planet as it is called
It's followed by Fear and Dread.
It's cold and rumbling,
with Marsquakes trembling
Let us go on, let's travel far!

Then banded Jupiter we meet
A gassy giant, fat and fleet.
Its days are short, a mere ten hours;
and four big moons as big as ours
and many tinies fill the skies.
The red spot is of earthen size.
Let us go on, let's travel far!

Now Saturn greets us, pale and vast
and just as Jupiter it's fast
a little smaller, little slower,
A day here lasts eleven hours
And then the most fantastic things
the gleaming, giant rings
Let us go on, let's travel far!

Poor Uranus is frozen blue
Just frozen gases through and through.
It has small moons of frozen rock
with pretty names from Shakespeare's books.
It too has thunderstorms and things
It even has some pretty rings
Let us go on, let's travel far!

Now Neptune it is also blue
And swirls and storms adorn it too
Its Triton is the only moon
to go the other way around.
A big, dark spot with bright white skies
Neptune has more to please the eye
Let us go on, let's travel far!

Poor Pluto met the bitter fate
to have its status to degrade.
Dwarf planet like a marble fine,
It's dark as sunset all the time.
Small Pluto is a lazy one
it takes six days to our one.
Let us go on, let's travel far!

Now we're beyond old Sun's domain
maybe we should turn back again.
But oh! this pretty field of stars
forever stays in our memoirs.
For stars of blue and white and green
are splendid wonders we have seen
Let us go home, we travelled far!
