Monday began with mass in German - we joined the German groups - in S. Peter's. The Owlets were impressed by the size of the church - even the putti carrying the holy water stoup is more than man size - and to be in the Pope's own church. They were also quite fascinated by the dove of the Holy Spirit which can be seen in this picture.

After mass we took a walk and enjoyed the sights of Rome. We even found an ice shop selling dairy free ice. MotherOwl was very happy as seen here.

We wnt to meet the two young men from the diocese of Copenhagen aspiring to be priests It was a treat to meet those two engaged, spiritual and intellectual young men. The Church needs priests as those.
The only thing the Pirate wanted, was to dress up as a Roman soldier, and he was allowed to do so as the meeting came to it's end. Is'nt he a nice little Roman soldier.

In the streets we met a real Roman soldier, and they traded mock blows.

That evening the Owlets had their first sung Vespers. The Pirate went to sleep not long after we started, but the other 3 enjoyed the sound - as it was in Italian they did not understand much of it (nothing really). The Owlets feel a bit sorry that all the churches in Italy are so lavishly adorned and the Danish ones mostly white and plain. MotherOwl and the Writer most heartily agree.

Mums....
SvarSletUglemor,
SvarSletThe churches are certainly beautiful. So are you. I loved your photo!
Thanks.
