Words for Wednesday June 25

Word for Wednesday is a challenge that was started a long time ago. Now it has turned into a movable event with Elephant's Child as our coordinator; and the Words provided by a number of people.

The general idea of this challenge is to make us write. Poems, stories, subtitles, tales, jokes, haiku, crosswords, puns, ... you're the boss.
Use all Words, some Words, one Word, or even none of them if that makes your creative juices flow. Anything goes, only please nothing rude or vulgar.

In June, Hilary Melton-Butcher will supply us with prompts, but they'll appear at  Elephant's Child.

It is also a challenge, where the old saying
"The more the merrier" holds true.

So Please, remember to follow the links, go back and read other peoples' stories. And please leave a comment after reading. Challenges like this one thrives on interaction, feedback and encouragement. And we ALL need encouragement.

I did not use very many words ... I used one, the very first. Then - because I normally use the words in the order they're given - solar had me baffled. The story meandered on without any more of the words. It's not long, but once again Susan shows off her animal skills. I think she'll be very welcome in the blue house at Trausti, Mona and Jonas' place.

Trausti got up and dressed and called for Susan. Together they left the blue house and followed the dirt road leading to Unicorn Farm into the setting sun. After they turned off the big road, Trausti whistled sharply, a purposeful two toned sound. Susan startled, then she heard the dog barking.
"We forgot the dog!" Trausti said, "but he was well trained by its old master." He pulled a treat from his pockets, and asked Susan. "Do you want to reward him when he arrives here."
"Very much," Susan said, and took the proffered treat. "What's his name?"
"We call him Bernhard, but that's probably not his right name, it might be the name of that man's previous dog, or even his own name for all we know. It was on the tag with no more information."
The dog came running, stopped up and sat on his haunches. Susan ruffled his ears, and spoke softly: Good boy, you found us. Here's a little something for you," she extended a flat hand with the treat and the dog looked expectantly up at her. "Yes, it's yours," Susan said without thinking. "It's yours, Snowy!" The dog gave a happy sound between a woof and a whimper and neatly snapped he treat from Susan's hand. "Is that your name ... Snowy. It fits you." The dog's tail wagged like crazy and Trausti laughed. "You are a true name spotter, Susan. I sure think this one is Snowy." The dog woofed softly at Trausti and put his muzzle in Trausti's hand. "He likes men best," Susan again spoke without thinking, "but of course his former master was a man too."
"Let's get going," Trausti said. "You need your dinner and some clean clothes without tears in them before that."
They hurried along in the low sun, Snowy always a few paces behind Trausti, looking like a perfectly happy dog.

Snowy is a deliberate allusion to Tintin and his dog, as many dogs, not only fox terriers, but almost any white or whitish dog was named after him for some years.
