Our new supermarket, Alma, opened today - in Copenhagen. It is supposed to be a substitute for the one closed down by orders of January 31, 2023, when I wrote:
my favourite supermarket chains rearranges and in the process closes down the branch where I have been going for things like coffee, tea, yoghurt, pasta, rice and biscuits ... Soon only cheap, lousy discount remains.MotherOwl is glad to see that her favourite brand of milk is to be on the shelves - best taste & the only one not adding things giving me a stomach ache to their lactose free products.

The other two brands they promote, I'm more like well no thanks. Noma is a fancy, vegan-gourmet-unusual stuff brand. I find it expensive, and moreover it's filled with FODMAPs (beans, lentils, and pulses). And wine, MotherOwl is not a fan of wine, period.
But the last sentence gives me more hope again: "This is only the beginning. Other than Alma's coffee, good tea, and shopping bags our shelves will be bursting new, tasty and green goods. We hope you'll come and have a look, and maybe even buy some."
Good tea sounds promising. Ever since Irma closed, we've tried to find a substitute for their Indian or Darjeeling teas. I think we've tried all other teas available, with varying degrees of disappointment.
There's much more I hope to find there, biscuits, wafers, cheese, meat, unusual fruits and greens, ... this is to be a food market only, so no use looking for machine wash, shampoo, cleaning and household products of any kind.

The newsletter form today's opening is kinda Meh ... Special offers for the coming week.
- Pulses, beans, lentils and co. No thanks
- Wine, still no,
- Apple juice, also no.
It is actually my fears for this supermarket come true. Organic and ... vegan, luxury produce, exclusivity, single estate. But then again the supermarket opened in the posh part of Copenhagen. I'll most decidedly hold my judgement till I've been there and looked for myself.
Good luck. I do hope you find goods suitable for your digestion and budget.
SvarSletI sure hope so too. A visit is in the planning by now.
SletIt's hard when the good places close. We have so many cheap, unhealthy choices now, it's sad.
SvarSletExactly this. Either cheap and unhealthy or fancy and expensive. The normal, good things at a fair price have gone missing.
SletBeing on a somewhat restrictive diet myself, I feel your pain. Now that we are trying to buy non-American products (in protest against Trump's tariffs), I feel lucky that most of my "safe" products are still available to me. I hope you can find things that fit your restrictions too - and soon.
SvarSletThe non-American products campain exist here as well, but as I never bought many highly processed foods, it's not a game-changer for me in any way. The problem was - and is - the closing of the supermarket, I bemoan in my citation. They had natural and organic local ( and European) produce at a fair price. Since then the choices have been cheap, mostly imoported junkfood in a supermarket, or pricey fancy things in small shops. Roughly painted of course, hunting the shelves in all the still existing supermarkets gave me an OK selection, but this is time and energy consuming.
SletI'm sure you're better off buying local than imported foods ;)
Thanks for your good wishes.
It looks good, but if it doesn't have foods you can eat, that's a problem.
SvarSletI'm sure it has. The dairy is promising, but I want to see for myself before passing judgement ... and it's far away, 60 km, and we have no car, so 1½ hours by train each way.
