Every Monday is Poetry Monday.
Poetry Monday is a
blogging challenge started by Diane @ On the Border in February 2017; later it was picked up by Delores @ Mumblings and Jenny @
Procrastinating Donkey.
Then Dolores took over the hosting duties; but
when Dolores left the internet, Diane returned and took over hosting
duty again with her and Jenny taking turns suggesting a topic.
Now Mimi @ Messymimi's Meanderings
and I have taken over, as Diane seems disinclined to take up Poetry Monday again.
The prompts are now taken from 365 Days of Drawing Prompts and other Arts
group. This is a Facebook group with a (drawing) prompt for each day of the
year, but no
worries, the prompts will still be here and at Mimi's blog. And they mostly lend themselves perfectly for poeming as well.
I
have something to ask of you: If you read this and the poetry of
others via the links, would you please leave a comment.
Half - if not more - the fun
of these challenges is receiving the responses of others.
Today the prompt is Photography. This is probably because of World Photograpy week - which is a celebration, lasting for two weeks ;) of the international photography day, August 19, the anniversary of the first photo ever taken in 1827. The French government first proclaimed this day 35 years ago
As is my wont when busy I wrote a haiku.
A photo says more
than a thousand words - Why then
do we need captions?

Dear readers and co-bloggers, now commenting is again possible on almost all blogs.
We're still waiting for the blogrolls to update, so if you think I'm slow in commenting this might be why.
While waiting for an update on this, know that I'm still reading and enjoying your blogs, albeit a bit later than any of us would like.

Sunday Selections ~ Steel Blue
Søndagsbilleder ~ Stålblå
Today it's still August, the Colour of the Month is still Steel blue. I do not find this blue very steely. But I'm not one to complain over any blue.

All the photos are from today ~ Alle billederne er taget i dag.

Vi begynder med dagens tekop. I dag ville Irma være fyldt 130 år.
Then off we went for mass. At the station the weather could not make up its mind. Looking to the Vest

Så tog vi til messe. På stationen kunne vejret ikke beslutte sig. Vi kigger først mod vest
... and twards the East ~ og så mod øst.We had sunshine and heavy showers before we reached church. It was the same on our way hime.

This photo also makes me a bit grumpy. The "Blue spot" is meant for the old ticket system, and no longer in use. It seems to me that every time they make a new system, it's more expensive and less user friendly and practical than the old one.

Billedet her gør mig også lidt trist.
And in the news: A campaign against drunken drivers. I find it refreshing that it's an old woman being asked to "please breathe into this", instead of the stereotypical young man.

Using the Words ~ Rantipole ;)
A partial repeat - and using the Words. The Wednesday hex hit again. I copy/pasted this from River's blog
Tuesday evening, fully expecting to write something Wednesday - which
was then tomorrow, now it's the day before yesterday ;)
River wrote:
Since it becomes Wednesday in some parts of the world while it is still Tuesday here, i am providing the prompts now, so you can work on them and post them when it's Wednesday where you are.
This week’s prompts are:
Mood
Peanut
Weakness
Novel
Ride
Jump
and/or the following archaic or seldom used words
Asunder (apart)
Nary (none)
Rantipole (behaving in a romping or rude manner)
I also made the mistake of reading Mimi's story ... I might succeed in writing something later on ... well Peanuts sparked off this rant!
I'm not in the mood to write anything. I'm bothered and bitter and someone even ate all the peanuts. Peanuts are one of my weaknesses, I have loads of weaknesses, but none of the others are to be found either - of course. This is not novel, as I do the shopping, and know what not to stock. Now if I want something to munch on, I'll have to go for a ride on my bike, or jump on the bus to town.
Well nothing is falling asunder just because there's no peanuts, or crackers, or gummies for me to munch on. Nary a person ever died from no crackers, and no matter how much I'd rather sit here or go and be the proverbial old rantipole down at the bus stop because my bus line is temporarily re-routed (the water-works digging) I'd better get off my behind and go paint my bathroom where I repaired some holes, cut down the creeping vine threatening my spouts, bake a cake for tomorrow, or some of the gazillion other things on my to-do list.
Ahh! this rant helped. I feel better now, and off I'll go and paint. See you, and thanks for reading.

En tiltrængt fejring ~ A much needed Celebration.
Her som valgblyant.
Jeg taler om Vikingblyanten. Her som valgblyant.
-- 💛✍💙 --
Today we celebrate an old friend. We all use it, more or less frequently, and in Denmark it is to be found in every election booth.
We're talking of the #2 pencil.
Some time ago, we had a discussion with an artist. He was – like I am – of the opinion that handwriting and creativity – and perhaps even personal development – are linked. And that the determining factor is the practice and training of fine motor skills while thinking; in other words, handwriting.
We also agreed that the hexagonal pencil is superior; you turn it round and round while writing, especially when you’re learning. That’s why, back in the days, I always removed those triangular ‘writing aids’ from the Owlets’ pencils and instead bought them thick, good-quality (and expensive!) hexagonal pencils when they started school. And that’s why I insisted they should write ‘lines’ every day – they’ve hated it. And that’s why, when Wordle or other word puzzles get tough, I reach for pen and paper. There’s simply a different, more immediate connection between hand and mind while writing with a pencil than there is via a keyboard.
He drew my attention to something I’d only subconsciously noticed: that this well-known, motor-skills and handwriting friendly item – the hexagonal school pencil – was getting harder and harder to find.
The other day I was in a bookshop on another errand, and lo and behold. I asked for Viking pencils. The answer: – Sorry, it has been discontinued. That means you can only buy it in one place in Copenhagen, and then online. There, on the other hand, it’s available in every colour of the rainbow, and imprinted with a name of ypour choice on it to boot.
-- 💛✍💙 --
-- 💛 - - 💙 --
May I suggest that we start asking for this hexagonal classic, buying it, using it and giving it as a gift? Preferably in different colours and with the recipients' name on it.

Sunny Days
Our sunny days now take a break
with clouds and showers coming here.
But this is fine, our tiny lake
has sunken down from here 一 to there__.
But when the lake again is full
I hope the clouds will run away!
It's not yet time for shoes and wool
we need more sunshine, bright and gay.

Blue :: Sunday Selection ~ Colour26
It started off innocently with blue arrows and squiggles sprayed on the tarmac.
"My" arrow - and very dusty shoe! ~ "Min" pil, og meget støvede sko!
Then came the signs and so on.
Så kom skiltene og alt det andet.
Now every arrow has its own small excavation. Tomorrow: My arrow. New water pipes are installed.
And they're BLUE! ~ Og de er BLÅ!

Colour26 ... Poetry and Words
Where Have I Been?
Words for Wednesday ~ August 12, Words supplied by Mimi @ Messymimi's Meanderings. The Words can be found there and at River's blog: Drifting through Life.
Plastic
Remain
Tooth
Wisecrack
Distant
Enjoy
and/or the following phrases
Heads up (an advance warning)
Not all it's cracked up to be (failing to be as good as other people claim)
Playing possum (pretending to be dead, or being deceitful)
Using all words and expressions in the order they were given, dramatic and over the top, based in truth:
Plastic seems to be all that remain of my poor tooth. My dentist said the following wisecrack: Your teeth are all soon to be distant works of art, enjoy them while they're still there.
In other words, she gave me a heads-up to start saving for some major work. I do not think dentures are all they're cracked up to be, so I'll go on trying to retain my few remaining teeth and play possum when the subject arises, until it can no longer be dodged.
Poetry Monday ~ August 10, prompt: Bluebell
This prompt was given for Monday 10th, the birthday of one of my sons. And in my head rolls a tune, I always thought to be Bluebells of Scotland, but is not. One of my other sons participated in a theatre at school, where this tune; the 'not-Bluebells of Scotland' was used. It went on about sheep, about sheep-shearing, and of sheep-shearers up in the highlands. I think it was made for the occasion, as I cannot find it anywhere.
It wholly and totally prevents me thinking any sensible thought on Bluebells.
And the Colour of August:
One photo from last week
That's not Denmark 😉. We were away on a mini-holiday, visiting Ribe, Hamburg, and Lübeck. This is from Hamburg, a picture of what I called the "Terrible Tower" The church was bombed during WWII, the tower still stands, fortified, and a lift takes you to the top of the then tallest, now still fifth-tallest church tower in the world. During the trip up and down you can look directly down and out through all the holes and missing windows! Did I ever tell you that I'm not fond of heights?

Words for Wednesday :: Only the Words :: Busy!
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over as a moveable feast with many participants supplying the Words.
When Delores closed her blog forever due to other problems, Elephant's Child (Sue) took over the role of coordinator.
Now, after Sue's demise, River has taken the mantle of coordinator upon her shoulders.
No matter what, how, where or who the aim of the words is to encourage us to write. Poems, stories, subtitles, tales, jokes, haiku, crosswords, puns, ... you're the boss.
Use all Words, some Words, one Word, or even none of them if that makes your creative juices flow. Anything goes, only please nothing rude or vulgar.
This month the words are given by me (Charlotte - MotherOwl) and can be found at River's blog: Drifting through Life
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please leave a comment on River's blog, then we can come along and read it and add a few encouraging words.
It is also a challenge, where the old saying "The more the merrier" holds true.
So Please, remember to follow the links, go back and read other peoples' stories. And please leave a comment after reading. Challenges like this one thrives on interaction, feedback and encouragement. And we ALL need encouragement.
And for today we were given:
well
understanding
challenge
person
genuine
suffering
and/or
faith
ambition
chance
hard
design
closet
BUSY:
I have for some time been running after my own tali .. or whatever it saying goes ... been too busy. I'm off for a small break. See you all!

Today the prompt is Tractor. This is an easy prompt for me. The steers outside are filled with tractors, red Tractors, green tractors, blue tractors, all lugging a trailer, sometimes in the same colour as the tractor, but often not. The other day two busy tractors crossed one another outside de our house, going slowly in the narrow road. One loaded, one empty, one red tractor with a green trailer, one green tractor with a red trailer. I do not know why we found this so fun, but it was ... just one of these things.
The blue tractors are mostly the excat blue I found for the Colour of the Month.
Just outside my door
I see tractors galore
It is harvest time
Blue tractors that fill
trailers to the gills
It is harvest time
They swing and they sway
throughout the day
It's harvest time
The grain that it spills
end up in the bills
of sparrows and tits.
We hear the combine
fromseven to nine
around the clock.
Outside my door
there's tractors galore.
It's harvest time.
