Hvad kan man så bruge en gammel tatami til? Gymnastikmåtte, til at sidde på og til at strække sit strikketøj i facon.
畳 たたみ
Tatami? What's that? Another one of MotherOwl's strange Japanese words? Exactly. It's a mat, covering the floors in traditional Japanese rooms, and where you put your futon whan you sleep.
They are made from rice straw, smell nice and are very durable, but because MotherOwl places her tatami on a bedstand, and not on the floor it has become warped. And as there's a top side and a bottom side to a tatami, it can't be turned upside down like a futon, unfortunately. A new one was needed for sleeping purposes, and a new futon too. Sleeping "in Japanese" is super good for MotherOwl's back.
Now for what do I use my old tatami? Training, sitting on and for the blocking of knitwear!
