Hvad kan man så bruge en gammel tatami til? Gymnastikmåtte, til at sidde på og til at strække sit strikketøj i facon.
畳 たたみ
Tatami? What's that? Another one of MotherOwl's strange Japanese words? Exactly. It's a mat, covering the floors in traditional Japanese rooms, and where you put your futon whan you sleep.
They are made from rice straw, smell nice and are very durable, but because MotherOwl places her tatami on a bedstand, and not on the floor it has become warped. And as there's a top side and a bottom side to a tatami, it can't be turned upside down like a futon, unfortunately. A new one was needed for sleeping purposes, and a new futon too. Sleeping "in Japanese" is super good for MotherOwl's back.
Now for what do I use my old tatami? Training, sitting on and for the blocking of knitwear!
And for sleeping, add a futon (mattress) ... og når jeg skal sove, tilføj en futon (madras) ...
Så lagen, to puder og en dyne ahhh-zzzzz And a sheet, two pillows and a doona aaah-zzz!
Those mats are meant to be on the floor, right? Do you have a pillow too? I couldn't sleep on one, I like my bed where I can burrow in against the cold or spread out like a starfish in the summer heat.
SvarSletYes, they're supposed to be on the floor. I place it on my bedstand, add a futon, that's a thin, but wonderfully soft and warm Japanese mattress, then sheets, pillows and a doona (too hot is maybe a problem 7 nights a year, cold from now on until May). I sleep very well here. I'll add a photo ;)
SletIt sounds wonderful, I have never actually slept on a real futon, just a folding bed some people call a futon. I'd love to try one at some point.
SvarSletA futon is real good. I never tried these folding ones, so I can't compare.
