As the alternative badge, as supplied by Lissa seems to suggest growing things I'll prefer those as starter words, and if at all possible, I'll avoid words containing the same letter more than once.
I'll maybe add a few words about my chosen starter word if fancy takes me, else I'll just post the solution - or not in the case that I did not solve it.

W is for Weeds. Yes, I know, double letter and all that. But for sure Weeds are growing things, olvar, we all know them, and in my wild garden they grow in great abundance, trying to take over the world, or at least my garden: Ground elder, bindweed, dead nettles, grasses, burdock, celandine, cleavers, buttercups and many more.
Do you think I omitted a few obvious ones? Stinging nettles, dandelions, thistles and a few more did not enter my list. Either because I like the looks, or because I use them for culinary, soapy or dyeing purposes, or because the insects love them, or all of these.
Weeds might not have been the ideal starter word because of the two Es. But today it was a good word. Upon reaching the third guess, I had it!
- A word, containing C and K with middle letter O. Pen and paper to the rescue. W as a start followed by H was outed by W being yellow in WEEDS. I could not find any word with _ W O _ _ not using any of the grey letters and still containing K (I found only AWOKE and this one contains E - no good).
- W then is not in the first half. And last? It looked wrong, so I went with third place. What about K then?
- K as a first letter then. I tested all the others like this: K _ O W _ placing R then T, then Y ... in second place, none giving me any useful solutions. Until I reached N.
- And K N O _ _ containing W had only two words surfacing in my brain: KNOWS, excluded by S being grey in WEEDS, and KNOWN - which I entered and which was the solution for today.
- Later I looked it up in the Wordle solver. Words having O as the middle letter, containing W and K has exactly those three possible solutions, so no wonder I could find no more 😉
This earned me the first Impressive of April. As I told EC yesterday, I normally have two or three of these a month, But the forced starter words almost always make for an extra guess or two. Runners-up were Worms and Wheat. Earlier this month, Wheat was actually the solution, a screenie from April 9th:
Well done. Wordle looks like a cross between maths/logic puzzles/vocabulary to me.
SvarSletToo right. I normally describe it as MasterMind with words.
SletI did not get "KNOWN" until the last chance! You did well :)
SvarSletThank you! And happy you made it.
SletDelightfully done!
