Sunday Selection ~ Søndagsbillede
Morgenfruer ~ Calendula (Blogtober 19)

It's still October, the colour of the month is still the same
Calendula petals have the right colour. Each summer I fill this glass with dried petals to use for soaping and un-petroleum jellies in the coming year.
I think I showed off this glass before. When we lived in Germany (Salzgitter-Osterlinde) for a year, there was a grocery store in our smallish town, Frau Deich's shop. She closed down some monthes later, selling out everything, and I bought this glass, that had been the home of Knorr stock powder in the shop.

  1. It is most beautiful, your jar of dried petals. My selections should have some pumpkin orange in them somewhere, all the fall colors were the wedding colors.

  3. That’s a nice shaped jar. It looks as though it would be easy to pick up and hold
Was the stock powder loose or the little foil wrapped cubes - like the ones that come in a strip packet at the supermarket

    1. It was loose powder - I don't know if it actually sold or were more for decorative purposes.

  4. The jar of petals is very pretty. How does one make soap from them? I may try growing marigolds again next spring/summer if I can find a way to keep the snails and slugs away.

    1. I make marigold-infused olive oil and use this for soaping and un-petroleum jelly. Here it's one of the few plants the slugs avoid.
