Now, finally, we have snow. We went for a walk, and lo and behold the roadsigns are perfct for January.

Endelig har vi fået sne, så vi gik en tur og nød det - og se, vejskiltene har lige den rigtige farve.
JAnuary, new start, new (or old) habits. Once again I pick up draving. For January I add something red, and a Japanese Kanji (letter) every day. Only my stock of red coloured pencils is somewhat lacking, one of these is even pink.

Januar er en ny start, og en chance til at få nye vaner eller genoptage gamle. Jeg har sat mig for at tegne igen. I januar tilføjer jeg så noget rødt og et japansk skrifttegn (kanji) hver dag. Desværre lader min beholdning af gode, røde farveblyanter noget tilbage at ønske, den ene er lyserød, altså.

But now I can prove that both Mr. and Mrs. Woodpecker are visiting our garden. The only difference is the red spot on the neck of Mr.

Og en sidste, rød ting fra de seneste dage. Den til højre har vi set før, men den til venstre er en ny. Jeg undskylder den dårlige kvalitet, men jeg kom til at kludre med min nye kamera og tog en mini-film i stedet for et billede, så dette er et stillbillede fra filmen.
Nu kan jeg så bevise at både hr. og fru spætte aflægger besøg i vores fuglekugler. Den eneste forskel er at hr. spætte har en rød plet i nakken.

You're right, the signs are just right. I'm glad you are adding your color to your drawings.

SletMy drawing skills are nothing special, but I like to draw, and it's fun. I migth get better with practise ;)
The merry woodpeckers are happy, returning almost every day, many won't feed them, but I like their ways and colours too much to chase them away.
Is there an art supply shop nearby where you can purchase red pencils or any other singles of any other colours? I have one near me with a whole wall of pencils in many shades of all colours and you can pick and choose whichever you want. But they are not cheap, though some are cheaper than others. Nice woodpeckers, we don't have those here.
SvarSletYou have so many gorgeous birds, but still I'm sad woodpeckers are not a part of them. They are an impressive species.
SletYes, we have such a store. Those colured pencils in the photo are most decidedly in the expensive end. They sell three for 50 kr (12 Australian Dollars), but with limited choice of colours. Time, and kids, have taught me not to buy the cheap ones. They do not colour, or they break, or are simly no good. So when my kids were small I bought the thick variety of these good ones for painting, using gift vouchers, coupons, or saving for them. I had a special place for them. Drawing, painting and colouring is not fun when you fight the tools AND your skills.
I might splurge (gift vouchers) on a big box, containing 48 colours. Price for three would then be 21 kr / 3,40 AUD. Still not cheap, but for something I use every day not too expensive ... not even 0.16 AUD a day ;) - and sometimes my kids or grandkids will use them too.
I think I'll do it!

SvarSletJeg har faktisk forsøgt på at lære japansk i rigtig mange år. Men det er svært at holde motivationen oppe helt alene. I dag har jeg skrevet 梟 - fukurou = ugle i min malebog.
SletArt supplies can get expensive anywhere. Some color pencils you can mix together to get a darker hue but I haven't really tried it.
SvarSletI really like that carmine red hue - it's not too bright as I often seen bright reds.
I'm curious about your new header. I get the owl but the rest is kind of hard to decipher. I'm sure all things mean something to you or else you wouldn't use them.
