Temari -- Hånd-bold -- Hand Ball Yarn Along

  • Temari with stitch marker. The yellow thread is resting and MotherOwl is sewing with the purple one.

How do you find these things? Well MotherOwl don't even remember which strange subjects led her to temari - Maybe Small Thing's Yarn Along ... Anyhow she just had to try it. As the barrel is always happy to spew forth treasures for any yarny project, MotherOwl found some awful yarn for the inner wrapping, that will remain hidden. One of those acrylic yarn that really are too ugly, but never get thrown out. Now here's a project to use a load of them. She found some thin woollen sewing thread? and a heap of embroidery floss in all the colours of a subdued rainbow. Just perfect.
This how to temari was the life line of MotherOwl for the first try.
But two good advices were missing.
1. If you hurt yourself on the needle then STOP! The pain might not be more than a slight nuisance, but the blood from even a tiny puncture can ruin a lot of work. MotherOwl was taught this lesson by a wise old bookbinder in her youth.
2 A stitch marker. After having continued for too far more than once, MotherOwl re-invented the stitch marker.

    1. Thank you. I always have to try this and that. I also had never heard of temari. I think that following some craft-along blogs are dangereous, as it leads me to spending so much time o this kind of things.
