Vejen Hjem -- 42a -- On my Way Home

Så er den her. Vejen hjem på den 117. regnfulde morgen. I det mindste regnede det ikke lige da jeg tog billedet.

Here we go, rainy morning number eleventy-something. It looks just like yesterday, but it is not raining, better for the camera at least.

Et blik ud over markerne afslører meget regn og ingen hjorte i dag.

Looking over the fields we see more wet, but no deer today.

Dagens børnesang /digt     - o 0 o -  The poem -  a children's song for today.

Det regner, det regner den hele dag,     It's raining it's raining most all day long
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp,
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp,
Hvor kommer dog alle de dråber fra?    Where do all these wet, tiny dorps come from?
Dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp, dryp.

Jeg tror, at de bor i den sorte sky,         I think that they live in the leaden clouds
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp,
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp,
Nu falder de ned over land og by.        And now they rain down over towns and fields
Dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp, dryp.

Og nu bliver græsset så vådt, så vådt;      Oh poor gras is turning so wet, so wet,
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp,
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp,
men regnen gør alle småblomsterne godt.   But rain is so good to the flowers small.
dryppe, dryp, dryp, dryp, dryp.

Når skyen er borte, bli’r himlen blå,       When the clouds all have gone, then the sky turns blue.
trala, la, la, la,
trala, la, la, la,
og så skinner solen på græs og strå.      The Sun's shining gently on me and you.
Trala, la, la, la, la.

Written by Margrethe Marstrand, translated by MotherOwl, who did not translate all the Drip, drip drip, and la, la la. She imagines they sound just the same in English.

It was difficult for MotherOwl to take the photos today. She always rests her camera against a lamppost, but today the place was occupied by a poster. In 3 weeks we got to vote on whether to keep the Danish reservations or not. MotherOwl has always found the reservations ridiculous, but this poster - nationalistic romantic with almost nazi-like undertones could almost make her wote "NO" in spite.
