Photos from a trip to the woods with the Owltes and the MiniOwlets (grandkids). We were looking for mushrooms for dinner, but we found a lot of other things.

A dungbeetle - cousin of the Egyptian scarabs  ~ ~  En møgbille, den er en slægtning til egyptiske skarabæer

Nogle dekorative egeknopper, der var blæst ned  ~ ~  Some oaken buds, the winds had blown off.

A sweet frog  ~ ~  En nuttet frø

Svampe, nok højstokket løghat. De blev stående  ~ ~  Mushrooms, probably garlic parachute, we did not pick them

Den her plukkede vi heller ikke  ~ ~ This one was left in the woods as well.

Og hjemme igen fandt vi en fin edderkop. Den havde næsten månedens farve
~ ~
Home again we found a spider. it was almost pumpkin orange, the colour of the month

  1. Very interesting shots, Charlotte too bad you didn't get mushrooms but the photo of that red one is startling.

    1. Thank you, next time I hope for better results.
That red one is a fly agaric, better left in the woods, but very photogenic.

  2. I like your nature selections, especially the frog.

You asked about the figure in purple in the 4th picture on my blog today, if you click the picture to enlarge, I believe it is Gandalf.

  3. That frog is adorable, so tiny in his camouflage colours. Great photos, Charlotte. You found quite a variety of mushrooms.

    1. Thank you. We found many more mushrooms, most boring, none edible. We'll have to try again later.

  4. The flat top mushrooms on spindly black stems look like something from a science fiction movie. The frog is cute. The beetle looks like our "lawn beetle" they lay eggs in the soil and the larvae hatch and eat the roots of the grass causing bare brown patches in lawns, then they cocoon and come out as adult beetles.

    1. They are not the same, frotunately. My beetle is a dung beetle. They roll balls of dung for their eggs and leave my lawn alone. But they do eat the mushrooms. Many a time I found a nice king bolete with the stem hollowed out by one of these - then I take only the cap ;)

  5. What kind of spider is that? It barely resembles a spider. At first, I didn't even think it was a spider.

    1. It's a cross spider, also called European garden spider, cross orbweaver, diadem spider, orangie, or crowned orb weaver. (Thanks to Wikipedia. Cross spider is a direct translation of its name in my native Danish: Korsedderkop.
