Søndagsbilleder :: Sunday Selection #69

- - -
Today, as so many Sundays a collection of photos from the past week.

-- 🖼 --

- - -
The lid for our potato jar. It kept breaking. I then took a drill, drilled holes and sewed and glued the parts together. I wonder if the lid will stay repaired now.

-- 🧵 --

- - -
I knit a sweater. It did not turn out well - three times even. I frogged it. All the balls of rewound yarn can be seen here. The only not totally used up, frogged and rewound, is the ball laying in front.

Men det her ser foreløbigt fint ud.

The thread leaving the photo to the left, runs to my new try. Now with a new pattern. Three times in a row making the same strange look makes me blame the pattern. I know how to read and count!
This looks good so far. I increase the same way as I did for my asymmetrical mittens, and it looks very good.

-- 🧶 --

I went for a walk in the garden. The weather was funny, luminous sunshine, fog and windy. The camera did not like this.

Nyd udsigten.

Enjoy this view taken into the midday sun. Frozen trees, ice on the "lake", and teasels with halos.

Willow with red catkins. They are not quite as red as last year, but still a delight.

- - -
A red hazel with red catkins. This year the leaves' fate is to end up in a dye bath for green. They dye a colour very close to PINE GREEN ~ ~ My Colour of the Month.

This is harder to see. I think and hope that it is a lot of buds on my Witch hazel. If yes, more to show when they unfold shortly. It was planted last year, so I never had the pleasure before. If there are many, I might pick some of the flowers for ointment.

  1. A lovely selection. I delight in your garden and admire your perseverance with the knitting. I hope this new pattern works well for you.
I love your mending too - it made me think of the china repairs (with rivets) that I occasionally see in antique shows from Great Britain. I hope it lasts. And lasts.

    1. This kind of repair was indeed my inspiration. I thought 'metal thread' lacking silver staples while making the holes, but went with heavy crocheting thread in the end.

  2. That is one very cold looking view of your garden plots. Not my idea of fun
In your last sentence did you mean pick for ‘ornament’ ( to display) or ‘ointment’ ( a healing cream)

    1. Thanks, no not my idea of fun either, I miss me some snow!
I do mean "ointment" I make soaps and salves as a bit-more-than-hobby ;) and withc hazel should have some healing properties. I do calendula and comfrey roots normally.

    1. Tak for de søde ord.

  4. I really like your selections, especially the color of the yarn you are using. May you have plenty of witch hazel this year.

    1. Thank you. Blue is my favourite colour. I too hope for loads of witch hazel flowers, they are so impressingly unexpected.

  5. Even with mistakes you do far better with knitting than I do. I love the garden photos :) Happy Bunny year!

    1. I don't knit very much ;) This is my first real sweater-attempt for years, decades even. I just hope to make something I can wear now :)

  7. Aha. Another MacGyver ;-) Sure the lid will do it´s job again!
Knitting. I had a phase at age 14. I was a boring kid. Glad you found the right pattern.
I was out and about the last two days, too. My face nearly froze... Oh, I can´t wait for Spring.

  8. Hehe funny expression. Live and learn, thank you.
I only began knitting as a grown up - I crocheted at 14 ;) and then forgot all about it until recently. I hope the pattern is fine now, I just tried the sweater on, and it seems fine. Now crossing my fingers I do not run out of yarn as the colour has been discontinued.
It sure is cold, but I can wait for Spring a month yet, more so if we have some snow!
