November 4 question - As a writer, do you have favourite themes that you like to explore in your stories? If so, what are they??My answer - Yes, I do have favourite themes I explore in my writing. Those are: magic, human kindness and human adaptability. There might be more. I'm sure my readers will know better than I do.
Good answer.
SvarSletThank you
SletI read the article about themes and wondered if any of my stories actually have a theme. I thought about my latest chapters of the Twilighters in the home and though perhaps aging well was the theme. I know I like to have happy endings, but is working to a theme what I do? Or does it just happen in my stories? Or are they just ramblings with no theme?
SvarSletIt just happen, I think. Maybe "living well" is your theme .. but is it really a theme, and not your personality peeping through? This is meant as praise :)
SletI like magic and human kindness and human adaptability too. And witches, ghosts, human nature, animal nature, any living beings real or imagined, anything goes, no need to confine ourselves to any one or few themes. As a writer, your theme is whatever you write - that's what I think.
SvarSletHave a lovely day.
"As a writer, your theme is whatever you write", sure, but there's things, I'd never write about. Torture and sports come to my mind.
SletWe all have ... maybe themes is the wrong way to express this. Maybe penchants, subjects, something else -- don't know really what word to prefer ... that we always return to.
