I sat quetly typing as a bird landed in the appletree just outside my window. My knee jerk impulse was to jump up and scare away the pesky dove. I looked again, and sat totally still, carefully getting the camera.
Det var nemlig ikke en due, men denne her. Og så drejede den hovedet og kiggede lige på mig.
I was so not a dove, And then it turned its head and looked straight at me.
Fru spurvehøg i egen majestæt ~ Her majesty, Queen Sparrowhawk.
Ja, jeg fodrer småfuglene i haven. Og ind i mellem ender en af dem altså som fuglefoder for hende her.
Yes, I feed the small birds in my garden. Now and then one of these ends up as feed for her.

I have never seen a Queen Sparrow Hawk and didn't even know they existed. She is beautiful. I like your new snowy header picture too.
SvarSlet"Queen Sparrowhawk" is just my name for this female Sparrowhawk, because of her regal bearings. Female sparrowhawks are much bigger than their male counterparts, so no trouble seeing which is which here - only problem is that the male goshawk is almost the same size. This close it's not a problem as the Sparrowhawk has yellow eyes and the goshawk orange eyes. But further away it's really hard.
SletHvor heldigt du lige fik mulighed for at tage et billede. Den er bestemt flot og majestætisk at se på.
SvarSletTak, du kan tro, jeg nød det.
SletIt seems she recognizes you as kin, in a way. Both of you mother owls.
SvarSletOw, I did not think of this. I always had a thing for birds of prey and they for me - Like Susan in my tales of magic ;)
