Sunday Selecions & Colour24

Way back when, I sewed a Japanese knot bag for my camera
Here is picture and text from 2016:

And then a small one. Made from quilted Christmas fabric (Meh, it was the only quilted fabric in the stash bin). It's 25 cm from top of strap to bottom. It is for MotherOwl's camera, shock proof, protecting, and easy to find.

But with all the photos taken ever since, you won't be surprised to hear that it was worn out.Actually it outlasted the camera it was made to protect, but the new one fit in there as well. Now it is well and truly worn out. The 'stuffing' is worn flat, and more than shows, and I was afraid that the strap would soon break.
I knit a new one.
Here it is with the camera inside:
The colour of August,
is not a bad colour when others come along to brighten up things.

  1. I love both your camera bags. I put mine in my pocket quite often. Not entirely safe. Or my shoulder bag.

    1. So did I at first, but I was afraid of ruining my camera, so now, with the Japanese thingies they go into my bagpack with no further worries.

  2. I like the camera bags though I've never felt the need to make one myself. I just buy one with a long strap to hang over my shoulder across my body. Mine has little pockets for an extra battery, extra memory cards which I'll never need but someone else might need one. And a pocket for my bus pass, another where I keep a $20 just in case of who knows what? Lunch on the beach or taxi fare home?

    1. Yes I had one of these with my big, old camera. But the new, digital ones are way smaller, and the need for bits and bops non-existing - a spare memory card can be put into the japanese bags. Add the fact that I always haul along my backpack (containig way more that the pockets of a camera bag could ever hold) when leaving the house, these small, protective hulls are really all I need.

  3. What a sweet little bag you have knit! And I think mice look extremely cute in their mouse grey fur coats . . . even without other colours :)

    1. Mice grey looks totally great on mice, I agree - even if I find mice to be a more brownish grey than this one - but elsewhere this grey needs company, at least in my eyes.

  4. I admire how you can make what you need, and make it pretty, too.
