Finally I'm done knitting my first ever sweater -- errr -- the sleeves are too short, I am a baboon it seems, short and with long arms.
The body is long, and reaches down over my behind -- that's how I like sweaters, and when knitting top-down its just a matter of continuing a bit further before the knit two, purl one-part.
For that same reason, making the sleeves longer is not hard, frog the knit two, purl one-part, knit one more pattern, and redo the frogged part, repeat with the other sleeve.
Men niks, nej ikke her.

I had promised myself that I could buy a pattern when I finished the sweater - another first. I wanted to knit a slipover. And after seeing the Stockholm slipover at Unikarina's blog, no other patterns looked nice.
Everywhere I have heard Petiteknit's patterns praised, they are so easy to follow and so on. Hmm, I don't agree. I think I read it through four or five times before I understood the meaning of it.
And one more thing. it tells you to have to knit back and forth on circular needles. Circular needles seem to be the latest in knitting, but no, not going to happen. I can't stand circular needles, and only use them when double-pointed needles really can't handle alle the stitches any longer. It's that bump, the transition from wire to needle, that makes me unhappy with circular needles, the stitches get stuck all the time and have to be lifted over one at a time - it's really slow and I get annoyed.
And I had the wonderful, multicoloured knitting needles as a Christmas present. They make me happy when I knit.

If you know he pattern - or looked it up, you might notice one more point where I am disobedient. The pattern calls for stockinette, but I have added a subtle pattern. There's something about imperious patterns like this one that makes me say No, I do it my way!
The slipover is much further along than in this photo, i like it very much so far.
I'm sure this is going to be a nice slipover!
SvarSletThank you, I'm already almost halfways there, and it looks good and feels so soft and warm. I love alpacca.
SletAnd there I thought I was the only one who disliked circular needles…..especially that same bit you don’t like either. I like the feel and weight of a ‘proper’ needle and the feel of the knitting not have it dangling on a cord. ‘Each to their own’ as they say!
SvarSletConsidering you were short on the pale blue yarn you’ve done well by adding the darker colour stripes. Top downs can be complicated.
We're not alone, I know at least one more disliking circular needles. I think it has to do with the knitting tension.
SletThank you for liking my stripes. I like top downs - but then I never tried the other way around - just the same with toe-up socks. You're dome when you're out of yarn :D
When it's your garment, do it the way you like it best!
SvarSletSo true, but when doing something for the first time ever, keeping close to the pattern or recipe is normally recommended ;)
SletI love the knit two purl one, I use it for the entire length of scarves which often turn out to be six feet long and way too thick because I didn't choose a finer yarn. I also like the Stockholm slipover and if you find a pattern for it in English could you post that please?
SvarSletKnit two purl one is my all time fave for these things too.
SletPetiteknit have their patterns for sale in many languages. The English one is here: Stockholm slipover. I have no idea of how digital patterns work, as I bought mine as a paper issue in a local yarn shop. One thing I like about them is that you can buy patterns only, and are not forced into buying yarn to go with the pattern. As I said, it's the first pattern, I ever bought, so I have no idea if it's expensive or cheap.
Thank you. I read the page and see it is worked from the top down, which is something I have never don. But now I am wondering if I could make something similar just by using a regular sweater and not making the sleeves, instead picking up the stitches and making the ribbed edging. And now I'm thinking of my arthritic thumbs. I do know someone who could do the knitting for me.
