The reeds are blossoming. MotherOwl picked the very first blossoms, and dyed some white yarn. The result exceeds expectations.

Næste morgen. Den grønne farve er næsten neongrøn -- Next morning. The colour is much more vivid IRL.

Arbejdsnoter: 92 g garn, bejdset med 20% alun. 4 g blomster til 1 g garn. Blomsterne plukket samme dag, og de hårde, grønne ender blev skåret af. Det hele blev puttet sammen i gryden i går aftes og simret en time ved 82 grader, Så kølede det af natten over.

Work-notes: 92 grams of white wool yarn, mordanted wit 20 % alum. The flowers were freshly picked, and the green hard ends cut off. 1 part yarn to 4 parts flowers. All just put into the pot and simmered 1 hour at 82 degrees and cooled off over night.

SvarSletSo you did it the usual way: simmering the plants, mordanting the yarn with alum (how much), simmering the mordanted yarn in the dyebath? Just in case I find some reeds by a happy chance :)

SletTheyike wet places - that's why! The small plain under the mountains where I live is covered with a rather thin layer of sandy soil so water drips off very quickly.
